Swansea's new-look defence must stay tight to limit Leicester's threat

Francesco Guidolin feels Swansea must be a better job at adapting to teams like Hull that sit back and defend.

To say Leicester bucked a trend last season by winning the Premier League is an understatement. It has been equally refreshing to see the club continue to break tradition by managing to hold on to most of their star players this summer.

Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez were courted by Arsenal but both men have signed new contracts to stay with the smaller club, at least in the short term. Not only have Leicester managed to retain their brightest attacking players, they've added another in Ahmed Musa.

Francesco Guidolin satisfied with Swansea's EFL win over Peterborough

Francesco Guidolin
Swansea boss Francesco Guidolin was satisified with his side's win over Peterborough United.

Francesco Guidolin declared himself "satisfied'' with Swansea's smooth passage into the third round of the EFL Cup, after a 3-1 win away to Peterborough United.

The Italian chief made 10 changes for the visit to the ABAX Stadium, but his fringe players seized the opportunity to shine as the 2013 winners advanced.

Rookie striker Ollie McBurnie enjoyed a dream debut as he bagged two goals in the space of three minutes just before the break.

The 20-year-old had earlier played a prominent part in the...

Former winners Swansea made a grand EFL Cup entrance as they breezed to a 3-1 success at Peterborough.

A slick Swans side, featuring four men who starred at Wembley when they lifted the trophy in 2013, sailed through a second-round test courtesy of a first-half super show.

Two fringe players came to the fore as boss Francesco Guidolin rang the changes.

Francesco Guidolin eager to win another cup with Swansea City

Francesco Guidolin feels Swansea must be a better job at adapting to teams like Hull that sit back and defend.

Swansea manager Francesco Guidolin wants to savour the magic of cup football again after being a winner in his native Italy.

Guidolin has his first taste of an English cup competition when Swansea head to Peterborough in the second round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

But the experienced Guidolin says he has an affinity with cup football having guided Vicenza to Coppa Italia glory in 1997 -- the provincial club's first-ever domestic trophy.

"We won the Coppa Italia and for a little team this is...

Leon Britton signs one-year contract extension with Swansea City

Leon Britton has been part of Swansea's rise ever since the days of League Two.
Leon Britton wants to reach 550 appearances for Swansea.

Swansea City captain Leon Britton has signed a one-year contract extension to remain at the Liberty Stadium until the summer of 2018.

Britton turns 34 next month and has made 514 appearances for a club he first joined on loan from West Ham in December 2002.

"Signing the extension was a very easy decision, like most of my contracts at Swansea have been," Britton told the club's official website. "I spoke to the chairman [Huw Jenkins] and said, 'If you are happy to have me, let's just keep the same...
