Perak want to 'do a Leicester' by stunning JDT in 2018 MSL

ESPN FC's Jason Dasey gives an inside look at the 2015 Malaysia Cup final as Selangor were crowned champions for the 33rd time.

Perak have been backed to take inspiration from Leicester City by pulling off a stunning upset to lift the Malaysia Super League (MSL) title in 2018.

Leicester shocked the football world in 2016 as they became Premier League champions, having ended the previous campaign down in 14th spot.

And Perak's First Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir believes the Bos Gaurus can become MSL champions this year, ending Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) four-year reign.

"When Leicester won the English Premier League...

Thai stars Teerasil Dangda, Teerathon Bunmathan and Chanathip Songkrasin out on loan to the J-League for the 2018 season.
With Hassan Sunny and Safuwan Baharudin set to join new clubs, PJ Roberts says more Singapore internationals should be playing abroad.

Homeless Selangor FA have hit out at the state government after being denied the opportunity to return to Shah Alam Stadium.

The Malaysia Super League (MSL) club's plan to play this year's home games at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil fell through after guarantees could not be provided over availability.

But MSL rivals PKNS and Premier Leage club Felcra will be hosting visitors to the Shah Alam, forcing Selangor to look elsewhere.

Last season, they used Selayang Stadium as their base, but the...

Singapore to defend Sultan of Selangor's Cup at Shah Alam in August

As a dismal 2017 for Singapore football draws to a close, John Wilkinson joins Jason Dasey to reveal his hopes for 2018.

The annual Sultan of Selangor's (SOS) Cup will return to Shah Alam Stadium in Malaysia on Aug. 25 after the 2017 edition was held at the National Stadium in Singapore.

Last May, the Singapore Selection, coached by Fandi Ahmad, prevailed 3-2 over their Selangor counterparts to equal the latter's record of victories (seven).

They weathered a late onslaught, with Selangor pulling two back through Safee Sali and Gonzalo Soto after going 3-0 up through goals from Khairul Nizam, Shakir Hamzah and Faris...

JDT need to be challenged as Malaysia football aims higher for 2018

Jason Dasey and John Wilkinson discuss Pep Guardiola's promise to visit JDT if Manchester City win the Premier League title.

The end of 2017 could not come quickly enough for most Malaysian football fans after a disastrous year for the national team and numerous off-the-field problems.

The only way, surely, is up this year, with hopes for a better showing at all international levels, a more competitive league and an end to the seemingly endless administrative problems.

Here are five wishes for Malaysian football in 2018.

Selangor FA have finally secured the services of Indonesian internationals Evan Dimas and Ilham Armaiyn after agreeing to demands to release the players for international duty before and during August's Asian Games.

Last month, the Red Giants announced the signing of the pair, with one of them assigned to the Malaysia Super League's (MSL) new ASEAN quota spot.

The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) had then threatened to prevent the transfer. due to fears that midfielder Dimas and winger Armaiyn...
