Pele and son Edinho
Pele's son, Edson Cholbi do Nascimento was ordered back to jail by a Brazilian court on Friday.

SAO PAULO -- The son of Brazil legend Pele has returned to jail to serve a sentence of more than 12 years on drug trafficking and money laundering charges.

A Brazilian court Friday ordered Edson Cholbi do Nascimento returned to jail after turning down his appeal.

He is a former goalkeeper with Pele's old club Santos and was first arrested in 2005, though he remained free pending the outcome of his appeals.

In 2014 a court convicted him to 33 years in prison. That sentence was later reduced to 12...

City Football Group buy 19-year-old Uriel Antuna from Santos Laguna

Uriel Antuna Santos Laguna
Santos Laguna have sold Uriel Antuna, left, to City Football Group, but it's unclear which team he will play for.

Santos Laguna's 19-year-old winger Uriel Antuna will be joining City Football Group on a permanent deal, the Liga MX club announced on Wednesday.

There were no details as to whether Antuna -- who played only one game in Mexico's top division -- would be joining New York City FC, Manchester City, Melbourne City or one of the group's other franchises. However, ESPN FC sources have learned that it is unlikely to be NYCFC.

Lucas Lima has denied that an agreement is in place to join Barcelona when his deal with Santos expires at the end of the year.

Sources told ESPN Brasil last week that the Brazil international has agreed a five-year contract worth €4 million per season with the La Liga club, including €5m in bonus payments.

Lima, 26, was also reported to have told Barca forward Neymar at a poker game that a move to Camp Nou in January -- he's contracted to Santos until Dec. 31 -- had been finalised.

Neymar wants Barcelona to seal signings of Lucas Lima, Marco Verratti

Sid Lowe explains why Marco Verratti reminds him of Xavi Hernandez and assesses Barcelona's other transfer options.
Brazil legend Pele believes the national team can't rely just on Neymar to be successful.

With reports indicating Barca rejected a hefty bid for Andre Gomes, the FC panel debate the future for the young midfielder.
Steve Nicol thinks Marco Verratti would be a great fit for Barcelona, but Alejandro Moreno worries about his health.

Barcelona forward Neymar has said he would be delighted if midfielders Lucas Lima and Marco Verratti joined him at the Camp Nou.

Santos star Lima told ESPN Brasil this week that he would move to Barca on a five-year deal in January when his contract with the Brazilian side expires.

However, there has not yet been confirmation from either club and a pre-contract agreement cannot be signed until July 1.

Neymar was unable to confirm the transfer -- despite Lima being represented by N&N Consultancy,...

Brazil court halves tax fine for Barcelona's Neymar after appeal

Alejandro Moreno cites an emotional letdown from Barcelona against Deportivo coming off their stunning win over PSG.

Neymar's 188.8 million Brazilian reals (€56.7m and $60.8m) fine for tax fraud was halved on Wednesday when a Brazilian tax appeals court ruled in his favour.

The Barcelona forward had been hit with the punishment last year for failing to report earnings from his contracts with Brazilian club Santos, Barcelona, Nike and other sponsors between 2011 and 2014.

But after appealing the fine -- which included back-taxes and interest -- a judge found in Neymar's favour and decided to reduce it.
