San Jose signs Emmanuel Ochoa, 14, second-youngest MLS signing after Freddy Adu

The San Jose Earthquakes on Monday signed goalkeeper Emmanuel Ochoa, 14, to a homegrown player contract, making him the second-youngest player signed by Major League Soccer behind Freddy Adu.

Ochoa, a Mexican-American who lives in Salinas, California, was 14 years and 191 days on Monday, just a little older than Adu, who D.C. United brought in at 14 years, 168 days back in 2003.

Fresh off netting his record 148th MLS goal, San Jose's Chris Wondolowski joins ESPN FC to discuss the milestone and his journey to the top of the scoring charts.

San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski has signed a new one-year contract, the club announced on Tuesday.

On a conference call with reporters, he said that his new deal will not see him labeled as a Designated Player nor will his salary require the use of Targeted Allocation Money, meaning his earnings will fall below the $530,000 maximum budget charge in 2020.

Matias Almeyda confirmed that he will remain manager of the San Jose Earthquakes and won't be leaving to take up the reins at Liga MX side C.F. Monterrey.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose Earthquakes head coach Matias Almeyda has asked for his players to get the same treatment from referees as MLS stars Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Carlos Vela, following his team's 1-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders on Sunday.

San Jose saw Tommy Thompson sent off in the 56th minute as the Earthquakes extended its losing streak to five games and will now need a victory next Sunday on the road to Portland Timbers to guarantee a playoff spot.
