Crew SC signs Artur on permanent deal from Sao Paulo

Artur will spend 2018 with Columbus after all.

Artur will be staying with Columbus Crew SC after the MLS club retained the midfielder's services in a permanent transfer.

After spending 2016 on loan with Columbus, the 21-year-old Brazilian posted a tweet last week to thank fans, seemingly drawing an end to his time in the U.S.

Reports said Artur's parent club had rejected Columbus' offer of $1.5 million for half of Artur's rights, but Crew SC continued to negotiate and completed the move on Wednesday.

"Artur was one of the most promising young...

Gabriel Martinelli returns to Manchester United for second trial

Steve Nicol feels Pogba has the ability to be one of the world's best players, but doesn't agree he's at a Barca level yet.
While transfer speculation swirls around him, Neymar keeps scoring goals, this time against Manchester United in the ICC.

Manchester United academy coaches are taking another look at Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli.

The 16-year-old forward has returned to Carrington as part of an on-going trial from San Paulo-based side Ituano and played for a United youth XI against Lincoln City on Wednesday.

He replaced Nishan Burkhart after an hour at Sincil Bank as United won 2-0 thanks to goals from Brandon Williams and Millen Baars.

United have already bolstered their academy ranks this summer, with 16-year-old Belgian...

"We will always be grateful and show respect and recognition that we have for Rogerio Ceni as a historic figure at this institution," Sao...

Lille boss Marcelo Bielsa makes double signing from Sao Paulo - reports

Marcelo Bielsa
Marcelo Bielsa has added two new players, according to reports.

Lille are reported to have made the first signings of Marcelo Bielsa's reign, with Sao Paulo duo Luiz Araujo and Thiago Mendes joining the Ligue 1 club.

ESPN Brasil and Globo Esporte reported the players would cost a combined €18 million as Bielsa, appointed on a two-year deal last month, bids to improve on Lille's 11th-placed finish last season.

Luiz, a 20-year-old striker who recently signed a contract extension until 2021, had already been approached by Lille during the January transfer...

A Sao Paulo fan dies during Sunday's match against Corinthians.

SAO PAULO -- A Brazilian football fan has died after falling 25 meters from the top of Morumbi Stadium in Sao Paulo onto a parking lot.

The height is equivalent to an eight-story building.

Bruno Pereira da Silva, aged 23, suffered head injuries and died upon arrival at a local hospital on Sunday.

He and other fans were attempting to jump to a section of the stadium where they could get a better view of the Sao Paulo state championship match between Sao Paulo and archrival Corinthians. The game ended...
