A couple of years ago, Jaap Stam, at the time a trainer in Ajax's youth system, was taking a Dutch FA coaching course. Stam, a no-nonsense defender in his time, clearly carried this line of thinking into his coaching career, for he left the course because he wasn't keen on the amount of theory and written work involved.

Wales forward Robson-Kanu: Reading future on hold until after Euro 2016

Hal Robson-Kanu, Andy King and Ben Davies previewed their Euro 2016 opener against Slovakia.

Wales forward Hal Robson-Kanu has shelved talks over his club future to focus on Euro 2016.

Robson-Kanu is available on a free transfer this summer and says he has spoken to Premier League clubs after ending his 12-year association with Reading.

But the 27-year-old -- who expects to be fit for Wales' Euro 2016 opener against Slovakia after suffering a leg injury -- says he will not be distracted by club matters over the next few weeks.

"It's a difficult position going into a major tournament," said...

Jaap Stam is set to take over Reading.

Former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam is in line to be named Reading's new manager, a source close to the club confirmed to ESPN FC.

Stam has been looking to take up his first senior managerial role after leaving Ajax's academy set-up at the end of the season.

The Dutchman is highly regarded within coaching circles and a number of clubs have been keeping tabs on his progress.
