Ronaldo and Messi at the 2022 World Cup? Don't bet against them

Ronaldo and Messi return to international duty, and it's not unthinkable that their eternal rivalry will stretch to the 2022 World Cup.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are back on Friday. It's been two-hundred and sixty-five days since we last saw them, each bowing out on the same day, at the same stage of the World Cup, likely with the same heartache.

Lionel Messi was in Kazan, where his Argentina side had let a 2-1 second-half lead slip in a wild, drunken shootout of a knockout game that saw France advance 4-3. Cristiano Ronaldo was in Sochi, a thousand miles away on the banks of the Black Sea, yet shoulder-to-shoulder with...

Ronaldo returns to Portugal squad for first time since World Cup

Gab Marcotti believes that Cristiano Ronaldo's stellar performance against Atletico Madrid only begins to justify the huge sum Juventus paid for him.
Steve Nicol and Craig Burley applaud Cristiano Ronaldo for his performance under pressure to send Juventus to the Champions League quarterfinals.

Cristiano Ronaldo is back in the Portugal squad after an eight-and-a-half-month absence.

Ronaldo has not, at his own request, played for the defending European champions since a 2-1 loss to Uruguay in the last 16 of the World Cup on June 30, 2018.

Portugal coach Fernando Santos' side face a Euro 2020 Group B qualifier against Ukraine on March 22 before they play Serbia three days later, with both matches being staged at Lisbon's Estadio da Luz.

Ronaldo moved to Juventus last summer from Real...

Ex-Manchester United winger Nani '50-50' on moving to MLS - source

Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino says he sees growth in football in the USA, and doesn't rule out one day managing in the MLS.

The chances of former Manchester United midfielder Nani coming to MLS are "50-50," according to a league source.

Nani, 32, is in his third stint with Portuguese giants Sporting, scoring eight goals in 25 league and cup appearances this season.

beIN Sports USA was the first to report the possibility of Nani heading to North America.

The Portugal international has also been on the books of Fenerbahce, Valencia, and Lazio in recent seasons.

Nani's best years came with United, where he spent parts...

Cristiano Ronaldo plays in 'ball pit' for new underwear advert

As a Christmas treat for his legion of Instagram followers, Cristiano Ronaldo has shared a little behind the scenes footage from one of his more memorable underwear photoshoots.

Ballin! 🤣

A post shared by Cristiano Ronaldo (@cristiano) on

The "ball pit" advert was first revealed a month or so ago, but the footage of Ronaldo larking about, lounging around and pretending his hand is a beak is all brand new, A-grade stuff.

The Juventus star is launching the Autumn/Winter line of his eponymous CR7 Underwear brand and obviously leapt at the chance to strip down...

Valencia's Goncalo Guedes out two months after abdomen surgery

Valencia say Portugal forward Goncalo Guedes will be sidelined for around two months after needing surgery to his abdomen.

The Spanish club said on Friday the 22-year-old Guedes had been operated on to treat a "weakness in the abdominal wall suffered in recent weeks."

Guedes was one of Valencia's best players last season, when he scored five goals after arriving on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. Valencia bought him outright before this season for a reported €40 million.

Valencia are struggling...
