Gillingham are set to hand a debut to Max Ehmer when they welcome Port Vale to Priestfield.

The 22-year-old German defender arrived on loan from Fulham this week and could go straight into the fold following the departure of Kortney Hause, who returned to parent club Wolves in midweek.

Midfielder Michael Doughty will come back into contention after returning from suspension but defender Joe Martin serves the final game of a three-match ban following his straight red card at Crawley in the Johnstone's...

Carl Baker's early goal helped MK Dons labour to a 1-0 win over Port Vale despite the visitors playing over half the match with ten men.

The Valiants had Chris Lines sent off for violent conduct in the first half, ruining the match as a spectacle, but the Dons moved themselves up to fourth in League One.

They went ahead in just the third minute when Baker took aim from the edge of the penalty area and shot low across Chris Neal and into the bottom corner.

Michael Brown's second-half goal secured Port Vale a 1-0 victory which took them into mid-table and dumped Rochdale out of the play-off places.

Veteran Brown spent most of the afternoon protecting Vale's defence, but roamed forward to deliver the decisive strike in the 64th minute.

Rochdale bossed all of the early play, but it was Vale who should have taken a 16th-minute lead.

Colin Daniel looked certain to score when the ball dropped at his feet eight yards out and it took a brilliant reflex save by...

Remie Streete recalled by Newcastle United amid defensive injury crisis

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew comments on Newcastle's fans and praises his team's run of four consecutive Premier League victories.

Newcastle have recalled young defender Remie Streete from his loan spell at Port Vale amid a mounting injury crisis.

The 20-year-old, who has made three appearances for the League One side, had agreed to extend his stay until January last week.

But with Magpies boss Alan Pardew having lost Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini to injuries and Mike Williamson still working his way back to fitness, Streete has been summoned back to Tyneside.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Remie Streete...

Substitute Danny Green poached the decisive goal as MK Dons squeezed into round two with an exciting 4-3 victory at Port Vale.

The visitors almost took a seventh minute lead when Ben Reeves' fierce shot rattled the crossbar.

But it was Vale who went ahead four minutes later through an own goal by Jordan Spence.

Vale striker Ben Williamson missed his kick from Adam Yates' low cross and the ball struck Spence's shin before rolling into the bottom right-hand corner of Daid Martin's net.

The goal did not...
