D.C. United red card rescinded after Union player admits he wasn't kicked

Steve Nicol and Shaka Hislop are delighted with Haris Medunjanin's show of sportsmanship after admitting to the referee he was not touched by Luciano Acosta.
Luciano Acosta is given a straight red by the referee, who then changes his mind on the sending off.

Philadelphia midfielder Haris Medunjanin admitted he talked the referee into rescinding a red card shown D.C. United's Luciano Acosta for a foul on the Union player on Saturday night.

Acosta fouled Medunjanin while battling for the ball near the sideline, and referee Sorin Stoica showed the D.C. player a red card after believing that he had reached out to kick Medunjanin.

But moments later, Stoica returned to Acosta and told him he could remain on the pitch, taking away the red...

NYCFC earns first victory at Red Bulls, Union hold off rival D.C. United

NYCFC picked up just their second ever win in the Hudson River Derby with a 2-0 victory at Red Bull Arena.

Jack Harrison and Ben Sweat scored to help New York City FC beat the New York Red Bulls 2-0 in the Hudson River Derby on Saturday.

The win was only NYCFC's second over its local rivals and first at Red Bull Arena in the club's three seasons.

Harrison scored his seventh goal of the season to give NYCFC the lead in the 34th minute. Rodney Wallace held the ball on the edge of the box before passing to the overlapping Sweat, who fed the former No. 1 pick to put a shot in under the bar.
