MEXICO CITY -- Liga MX's first two rounds of the 2016 Apertura have included a noticeable drop in number of goals scored. Clubs like Necaxa, Cruz Azul, Tigres, Chiapas and Santos Laguna have yet to score their first goal of the new season.

At the same time teams such as America and Pachuca have maintained and built upon their excellent 2016 Clausura forms. Also, clubs like Queretaro and Puebla have shown worthwhile improvements and look to go far in the Apertura.

Pachuca's decisive Week 1 win puts it top of Liga MX Power Rankings

Cruz Azul shared points with newly promoted Necaxa in their first Apertura game.

Tijuana's Dayro Moreno and Pachuca's Hirving Lozano finished the first week on top of the goal-scoring table with two goals each. The weekend left behind two scoreless draws and three 2-0 wins.

1. PACHUCA (+1): With an inspired Hirving Lozano leading the attack, Pachuca overwhelmed Leon and defeated Los Esmeraldas by a final score of 5-1. Los Tuzos's last Liga MX home loss took place on Nov. 14, 2015, a 1-2 defeat to Cruz Azul.

MEXICO CITY -- 17 goals were scored in the inaugural week of the 2016 Apertura. After giving a worthwhile display, last season's defending champion, Pachuca, obliterated Leon by a final score of 5-1. In Mexico City, Pumas' 1-0 win over Chivas turned into one of the main headlines of Liga MX's Week 1.
