New manager Pep Clotet made a flying start to his Oxford career as the U's grabbed a 2-0 victory over Oldham at Boundary Park.

Arsenal youngster Dan Crowley is set to leave the club to join Dutch Eredivisie side Willem II, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Crowley ended last season on loan in the Netherlands with Go Ahead Eagles and he impressed during his time in Eredivisie for the second half of the season.

The skilful midfielder scored two goals and laid on two assists in 16 games for Go Ahead Eagles after spending the first half of last season on loan at League One outfit Oxford.

Michael Appleton quits as Oxford boss to take Leicester assistant job

Michael Appleton, centre, has signed on with Leicester City.

Michael Appleton has left his job as Oxford boss to take up the assistant managerial role at Leicester, the clubs have announced.

The 41-year-old joined the U's in July 2014, leading them to promotion from League Two in the 2015-16 season as well as two Football League Trophy finals.

Appleton, who has signed a three-year deal at Leicester, will team up with Craig Shakespeare, who was also recently handed a three-year contract after keeping the Foxes in the Premier League.
