Orlando City SC acquire defender Carlos Ascues on loan from Alianza Lima

Late game heroics from Wayne Rooney to set up Luciano Acosta gives DC United a crucial win over Orlando City to stay alive in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Orlando City SC acquired defender Carlos Ascues on loan from Alianza Lima of Peru for the remainder of the season, pending receipt of his international transfer certificate and P-1 visa, the club announced Thursday.

The deal gives Orlando City the option to extend the loan through the 2019 season.

Orlando City filed paperwork to obtain Ascues prior to the closing of the MLS secondary transfer window on Aug. 8, but a documentation issue held up formal approval and a waiver was granted from FIFA to...

MLS suspends Toronto's Chris Mavinga, Orlando's Yoshi Yotun for violent conduct

Tempers flared at the end of Toronto FC's draw at Atlanta United, resulting in Toronto's Chris Mavinga seeing a red card for his actions.

Major League Soccer suspended both Toronto FC defender Chris Mavinga and Orlando City midfielder Yoshi Yotun an additional game for separate violent conduct incidents last weekend.

Mavinga was involved in a skirmish at the end of Toronto's 2-2 draw at Atlanta United. A linesman was trying to separate the players after the final whistle when Mavinga reached across him to give a shove to the head of Atlanta's Leandro Gonzalez Pirez.

Yotun was also disciplined for pushing his fist into the neck of the...

MLS fines Orlando's Dom Dwyer, CEO Alex Leitao for criticizing referee

The FC crew examine the penalty awarded in Columbus' win over Orlando, including the absence of VAR and whether the officials should be disciplined.
Orlando City looked set for their second straight win in MLS, but a controversial penalty and a screamer by Wil Trapp turned the tide for Columbus.

Major League Soccer fined Orlando City forward Dom Dwyer and CEO Alex Leitao on Wednesday for comments about the referees in last month's defeat to Columbus Crew SC.

Dwyer and Leitao wrote messages on Twitter critical of referee Silviu Petrescu, who awarded an 87th-minute penalty after forward Patrick Mullins fell to ground under minimal pressure from right-back RJ Allen.

Columbus, which trailed 2-1 at the time, were able to rally for a 3-2 win.

Dwyer criticised Petrescu's...

Sutter's stoppage-time header rescues draw for Lions vs. Revolution

Orlando City twice came back from a deficit to snag a point but still remain adrift of a playoff spot in the east.

Scott Sutter's stoppage-time header allowed Orlando City to rescue a point in a 3-3 draw with the New England Revolution on Saturday night at Orlando City Stadium.

Down a goal in the match's dying seconds, a Yoshimar Yotún free kick from 35 yards connected with Sutter's head and bounced just past Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner at the near post for the equalizing score.

Two early defensive mistakes from the Lions gave New England (7-7-8, 29 points) a 2-0 lead after just 18 minutes. Off a corner...
