Atlanta United puts four past Chicago; Montreal rallies for draw vs. NYCFC

Atlanta put on another show-stopping performance of their early MLS career, battering the Chicago Fire 4-0.

Josef Martinez scored a pair of second-half goals and Atlanta United turned in another dominating performance, beating the Chicago Fire 4-0 for its first home victory on Saturday.

Before a raucous crowd of 45,000, expansion United jumped ahead four minutes into the game from an own-goal by Chicago's Brandon Vincent. Julian Russell's attempted cross from the right side of the penalty area deflected off Vincent, right past goalkeeper Jorge Bava.

Orlando City gives new three-year deal to goalkeeper Joe Bendik

Orlando City rewarded goalkeeper Joe Bendik with a new contract.

Orlando City goalkeeper Joe Bendik signed a new three-year contract to stay with the Lions on Monday.

The new deal will tie Bendik to Orlando through the 2019 season, after the 27-year-old played every minute for the MLS club last season.

Bendik's 114 saves last season were the most in the league, and he won the league's "Save of the Week" honor 11 times.

The 27-year-old was also named to the MLS Team of the Week after shutting out New York City FC in the Lions' season opener this month.

MLS postpones Revolution opener ahead of cold temperatures

MLS has postponed the New England Revolution's home opener against Orlando City because of cold temperatures.

The game was set to be played at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Gillette Stadium, but the league rescheduled it for Sept. 2, which is during one of FIFA's international breaks.

MLS said forecasts called for temperatures in the low 20s, with an additional wind chill that would bring it into the single digits, while snow was expected on Friday.
