Lucas Vazquez scored a brace as Real Madrid booked their place in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey following a 2-2 second-leg draw with Numancia at the Bernabeu.

The hosts were in command of the last-16 tie following last week's 3-0 victory in the opening encounter, and despite a late leveller from the visiting side, goals by Vazquez in both halves rubber-stamped their passage to the next stage.

Zinedine Zidane's side lost further ground on Barcelona in La Liga last weekend following a 2-2...

The Welshman, whose campaign has been disrupted by a succession of injuries which have limited him to just six LaLiga appearances, sent goalkeeper Munir the wrong...

Ex-Sydney FC star Naumoff queries
A-League's heart screening process

Chris Naumoff made 44 appearances for Sydney FC during his time at the club.

Former Sydney FC winger Chris Naumoff has alleged the A-League club may have known about a heart condition that forced him into retirement at the age of 21.

After three seasons with the Sky Blues, Naumoff -- a former Young Socceroos and Olyroos representative -- penned a dream three-year deal in June with Spanish second division side Numancia.

However, the move was scrapped after a routine medical examination revealed he suffers from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a genetic disease which can trigger...
