Norwich beat newly promoted Brighton 2-0 on Friday night despite not managing a shot on target, with visiting goalkeeper David Stockdale scoring two own goals.

The Seagulls stopper twice dived to try to keep out well-stuck first-half shots from Alex Pritchard, and twice the efforts came back off the woodwork, hit the luckless keeper and rebounded back into the net.

The goals -- in the 18th and 39 minutes -- ended any hope Chris Hughton's side had of confirming top spot in the Sky Bet Championship...

Rare away win for Monday-loving Norwich against lacklustre Preston

Norwich picked up only their second Championship away win in their last 17 attempts with a 3-1 victory over Preston at Deepdale.

Two first-half goals from Graham Dorrans and Josh Murphy, and a third late on from James Maddison, were enough to clinch victory in this dead-rubber fixture.

It was just a third Championship home defeat for Preston in their last 19 games.

Neither side had much to play for after recent defeats in the league, and so the first half had a pre-season friendly feel about it.

Then,...

Fulham boosted their Sky Bet Championship play-off chances by seeing off Norwich 3-1 at Carrow Road - after playing the entire second half with 10 men.

The Cottagers were leading 1-0 on the stroke of half-time when striker Chris Martin was sent off - on the ground where he made his name - for elbowing Mitchell Dijks.

That left the visitors facing a tough fight to defend Stefan Johansen's early opener, but a penalty just after the break from Tom Cairney made that task a good deal easier.

Substitute Cameron...

Reading looked anything but a side challenging for promotion to the Premier League as they suffered a humiliating 7-1 defeat at the hands of a rampant Norwich side.

The Canaries saw their outside chances of making the Championship play-offs all but snuffed out by a 3-0 defeat at Huddersfield in midweek but they were magnificent on their return to Carrow Road, while being aided and abetted by some woeful Royals' defending.

They hit Reading for six in an incredible first half, with Wes Hoolahan and Alex...

Newcastle beat Burton to go top as Huddersfield return to third

Matt Ritchie was at the centre of the action for Newcastle against Burton.

Matt Ritchie got the goal he thought he had scored in the first half to help Newcastle return to the top of the Championship with a 1-0 victory over Burton.

On a bizarre night at St James' Park, Ritchie struck the winner in the 68th minute to secure the win that keeps Newcastle 10 points clear of third-placed Huddersfield and one ahead of title rivals Brighton.

The Scotland international, along with the rest of Tyneside, must have feared it was not going to be their night after seeing referee Keith...
