Gelson Martins pushed referee Mikael Lesage after one of his teammates was sent off.

Monaco's Gelson Martins has been slapped with a six-month suspension for pushing a referee during a 3-1 Ligue 1 loss at Nimes last month.

The 24-year-old Portugal international shoved referee Mikael Lesage after teammate Tiemoue Bakayoko was dismissed for a dangerous tackle in the 32nd minute. He then followed it up with an even stronger push after he too had been shown a red card.

The Ligue de Football Professionnel's (LFP) disciplinary committee deemed Martins' action "brutality" and justified...

Lyon made the most of Nimes having two players sent off in the first half as they thrashed Ligue 1's bottom side 4-0 away to climb to fifth in the standings on Friday.

Nimes midfielder Theo Valls was shown a straight red card when the game was barely four minutes old for a studs up challenge on teenager Maxence Caqueret and Memphis Depay put Lyon ahead in the 16th minute with a 'Panenka' penalty.

The home side's problems worsened when Gaetan Paquiez earned two bookings within three minutes to leave...

Bordeaux fans stormed the pitch to protest against the club's president.

A group of Bordeaux Ultras invaded the pitch during their Ligue 1 match with Nimes on Tuesday, forcing the referee to delay the game for 25 minutes.

The club's supporters, known as the Ultramarines, stormed onto the pitch to protest against president Frederic Longuepe.

Both teams were sent back to the dressing room but despite the disturbance, Bordeaux returned to win the game 6-0.

AS Monaco had a player sent off for the third time in as many matches this season as they squandered a two-goal half time lead to draw 2-2 at home to Nimes on Sunday, a result that left them still without a win in Ligue 1.

The 2017 champions at least picked up their first point of the season but were left languishing one off the bottom of the table after yet another frustrating match.

After losing their first two games 3-0, Monaco seemed to have finally slipped into gear as Algeria forward Islam...
