Karl Robinson's first match in charge of Charlton Athletic proved to be an anti-climax as they were held to a goalless draw by his former club MK Dons in the FA Cup second round.

The Dons, who Robinson left in October, had won only two of their previous 11 matches in all competitions but raised their game against their former manager and could have won at The Valley.

Richie Barker, Robinson's former assistant, was in caretaker charge of the MK team for the last time after the appointment of former...

Robbie Neilson appointed new manager of MK Dons

Robbie Neilson is now the man in charge at MK Dons.

MK Dons have announced the appointment of Robbie Neilson as their new manager.

The 36-year-old Scot has been confirmed as the successor to Karl Robinson at the League One club after leaving Hearts, and will officially take charge following Saturday's FA Cup second-round match at Charlton.

He will be joined by assistant Stevie Crawford, who also worked alongside him at Tynecastle.

Neilson told MK Dons Player: "I'm delighted. It's great to be here and I'm looking forward to developing the club, developing...

Robbie Neilson set for MK Dons job after deal agreed with Hearts

Robbie Neilson is leaving Hearts to take over MK Dons.

Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson is set to become the new MK Dons manager after the two clubs agreed compensation.

The Scottish Premiership club have also given permission for assistant boss Stevie Crawford to discuss personal terms with the League One side, who have been managerless since the departure of Karl Robinson on Oct. 23.

Hearts have already begun searching for Neilson's successor, according to a statement on the club's official website.

It read: "The club can confirm that we have agreed...

A brace from Ed Upson saw MK Dons grab their first Sky Bet League One win in almost two months, a 2-1 victory at 10-man Coventry.

The Sky Blues dominated the first half and had a series of chances to grab the opening goal.

Ben Stevenson steered a ninth-minute effort just wide, while a 14th-minute effort by Gael Bigirimana sailed inches over the bar after some good link-up play with Marcus Tudgay.

There was a lack of quality in the final third, up until the 34th minute when Upson headed a Dean Lewington...

Steven Gerrard: MK Dons manager vacancy came 'a bit soon for me'

Steven Gerrard has revealed he has options to weigh up after the confirmation of his departure from the LA Galaxy.

Steven Gerrard has confirmed that he held talks with MK Dons about becoming the manager of the League One club.

ESPN FC and other outlets had reported last week that there had been "early" discussions between the two parties after Gerrard announced he was not returning to the LA Galaxy.

But the former Liverpool and England midfielder said it was not the right time for him to take the vacant position.

"I spoke to them [MK Dons]. I had a chat with the chairman, I think it's a very exciting job...
