Jonny Evans, Ander Herrera step up Manchester United comebacks

Jonny Evans and the rest of the United defense were all out of sorts.
Evans joined United as a youth player in 2004.

Ander Herrera scored and Jonny Evans started as Manchester United's reserves beat Blackburn 5-0 on Tuesday.

Evans was making his comeback after two months on the sidelines with an ankle injury and the centre-back came through the game unscathed.

Midfielder Herrera has been an unused substitute in United's last four matches and has only played 45 minutes since suffering a cracked rib against West Ham in September.

The Spaniard played in a corset against West Bromwich Albion in October but was taken...

Jonny Evans set to make reserve comeback for Manchester United

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says he wasn't pleased with first half, but United eventually claimed all three points.

Jonny Evans could hand Manchester United a rare defensive injury boost by making his comeback for the club's reserve team.

Evans, 26, suffered an ankle injury in September's 5-3 defeat at Leicester, but the club announced that he may feature against Blackburn in the Lancashire Senior Cup on Tuesday evening.

The Northern Ireland international has been out for two months and has only made four appearances this season, but returned to training after having a protective cast on his ankle removed.

Robin van Persie: Manchester United still aiming to win Premier League

Watch Saturday's Premier League action, where Manchester United defeated Arsenal, Chelsea continued their winning ways and more.

Robin van Persie believes Manchester United can still win the title even though they are 13 points behind leaders Chelsea, but suggested they stand a greater chance of becoming champions for a 21st time next season.

United moved into the top four with Saturday's 2-1 victory at Van Persie's former club Arsenal and Van Persie thinks that, with 26 games of the season remaining, they have time to catch Jose Mourinho's team.

He told BT Sport: "This year it's still possible as we've only played [a third]...

Ryan Giggs could leave Manchester United to further coaching career

ESPN FC's Craig Burley gives his take on how the perception of David Moyes at Manchester United became reality.

Ryan Giggs has insisted he has not given any thought to the prospect of succeeding Louis van Gaal as Manchester United manager, but that he may need to leave the club one day to fulfill his ambitions.

As the club's record appearance maker (963), the 40-year-old knows everything about the Old Trafford outfit and, after the sacking of David Moyes, Giggs took over as caretaker for four matches -- winning two with one defeat and one draw -- at the end of last season.

Louis van Gaal: Bayern Munich visit was only to see Arjen Robben

After debuting with PSV Eindhoven in 2002, Arjen Robben has set his sights on another Champions League title with Bayern Munich.

Louis van Gaal said he met Arjen Robben during Bayern Munich's stay in Manchester this week but did not see the club hierarchy, having recently been criticised for attempting to "Van Gaal-ise" the side during his time in charge.

Van Gaal, now in charge of Manchester United, coached the German champions between 2009 and 2011, leading the team to success in the 2009-10 Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal as well as reaching that season's Champions League final.

However, he was sacked during a disappointing 2010-11...
