Steve Nicol explains why Fred is a great addition to Manchester United's midfield and why the club were smart to seal the move before the World Cup.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho used his footballing expertise to predict the outcome of the World Cup group stages.

Recent reports have suggested that Manchester United are looking to add not one Brazilian midfielder to their ranks, but two. Much has been written about Fred, acquired from Shakhtar Donetsk, but Chelsea's Willian could prove an even more versatile signing. It is unclear why Chelsea would contemplate letting him go, but if United have a chance to buy him they should take it.

Willian is the perfect Jose Mourinho player: in the sense that he is tactically intelligent, works extremely hard in defence...

Marouane Fellaini of all people proves to be top finisher at Belgium training

Marouane Fellaini training with Belgium ahead of the World Cup.
Marouane Fellaini usually scores with his head but at Belgium training he proved he's capable of more than just headers.

Belgium's stars earned a peaceful day off after their 3-0 World Cup-opening win over Panama Monday night. The players arrived back to their hotel in Moscow early Tuesday morning and had the luxury of enjoying a long nap.

Unfortunately for the substitutes, they weren't quite as lucky. It was a closed-door training session for the rest of the side but there was some fun had at the end of training. Manager Roberto Martinez had the players complete a "finishing" exercise before the eyes of the Belgian...

Many of Manchester United's stars are proving their worth at the World Cup

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho thinks England have the quality and experience to win the World Cup.
England forward Marcus Rashford tells Mark Ogden that playing less for Manchester United in 2018 has left him feeling fresh heading to Russia.

"What a feeling!" tweeted Marcus Rashford after making his World Cup debut, when he came on as a 68th-minute substitute in England's 2-1 win against Tunisia. He did well enough to be optimistic of a start against Panama in the next game.

"Proud day," added older brother Dwaine, "this journey started 14 years ago and today we get the fruits of our labour. Well done Marcus."

"Last night was one the proudest moments of my life," tweeted the tireless, if profligate, Jesse Lingard. "England's number...

The pantomime villain who wouldn't settle for second

Twelve years ago, almost to the day, I got my first glimpse of Cristiano Ronaldo. It was a watershed in several ways. England v Portugal in the World Cup quarterfinals and some of the pre-match talk had been about Ronaldo facing three of his Manchester United team-mates: Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand but especially his striking partner Wayne Rooney.

Well, we know what happened: Rooney was sent off after an hour for a stamp on Ricardo Carvalho, the referee's decision coming after several Portugal...

Patrice Evra: If Cristiano Ronaldo invites you over for lunch, just say no

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has advised against accepting post-training lunch invitations from his ex-teammate Cristiano Ronaldo -- as the food will be too healthy and you will end up having to exercise even more.

Evra and Ronaldo were teammates at Old Trafford between 2005 and 2009, as Alex Ferguson's side won trophies including the 2008 Champions League and 2007, 2008 and 2009 Premier League titles.

Discussing Ronaldo's phenomenal hat-trick in Portugal's 3-3 draw with Spain in...
