Leyton Orient begin life without manager Andy Hessenthaler against Plymouth after the 51-year-old was relieved from his role on Monday.

After just five months in charge, Hessenthaler became the first managerial departure in the Football League this term, with assistant manager Andy Edwards taking charge of the O's on an interim basis.

New signings Jens Janse and Zan Benedicic could make their debuts.

Leyton Orient sack Andy Hessenthaler after back-to-back defeats

Leyton Orient have confirmed that manager Andy Hessenthaler has been relieved from his role.

The former Gillingham boss becomes the first managerial departure in the Football League this term following a three-match winless streak that left Orient 14th in League Two with three wins from nine games.

The 51-year-old, who signed a one-year deal during the summer, took over from former player-manager Kevin Nolan for the final five games of the 2015-16 campaign.

Jon Stead struck his seventh goal of the season as 10-man Notts County defeated Leyton Orient 3-1 after a lively second half at Meadow Lane.

The Magpies edged a forgettable first half, with Stead denied twice in the box on 20 minutes, first by a block from Nicky Hunt and then by Alex Cisak's near-post save.

But the home side stepped up a level after the break, scoring twice in quick succession early in the half to go take control of the game.

Tom Eaves' second-half goal proved enough to hand Yeovil Town their first win in six League Two matches as they claimed maximum points from a 1-0 victory at Leyton Orient.

The Glovers broke the deadlock when Otis Khan took a short corner and - with the O's defence slow to react - the ball reached the unmarked Eaves who was left to head home from close range.

The opening half got off to a slow start with little to show for it from either side.

A Danny Grainger penalty four minutes from time enabled Carlisle to salvage a 2-2 draw against Leyton Orient and preserve the Cumbrians' record as the last unbeaten team in League Two.

Orient twice led through goals from Paul McCallum and Harry Cornick with substitute Charlie Wyke scoring Carlisle's first just after the break.

Carlisle just had the edge in first-half possession, without seriously troubling Alex Cisak, although the goalkeeper was comprehensively beaten in the 30th minute when a Nicky...
