First-half goals by Lloyd James and Jay Simpson maintained Leyton Orient's 100 per cent start to the season as they beat Bristol Rovers 2-0 to stay top of the League Two table after five games.

There was little to choose between the teams in the opening exchanges but the home side went ahead from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute.

Defender James Clarke was adjudged to have pushed striker Paul McCallum and despite vehement Rovers protests, referee Darren Drysdale pointed to the spot. James stepped...

League Two leaders Leyton Orient maintained their 100 per cent record with a 3-2 win at Newport.

Orient led 2-0 inside seven minutes when Paul McCallum and Jay Simpson both netted their third goals of the season.

But Newport levelled through Scott Boden and Mark Byrne, only for Dean Cox to tuck away a second-half winner.

McCallum out-jumped two defenders to beat Joe Day inside four minutes and Day was then swiftly beaten again by Simpson's thumping 35-yard effort.

Three goals in 16 second-half minutes earned Leyton Orient a 3-0 win over Stevenage at Brisbane Road.

Jay Simpson opened the scoring after 74 minutes when he rose to head home a left-wing cross from Dean Cox.

Orient doubled their lead nine minutes later when summer signing Blair Turgott opened his account with a wonderful strike from 18 yards, following good work from Sean Clohessy.

On the stroke of full-time, another substitute and pre-season signing Ollie Palmer scored his first goal for the club...

Leyton Orient emerged 3-1 winners in their London derby with Dagenham in Sky Bet League Two.

The O's maintained their 100 per cent record in the league since dropping out of the third tier and became one of five sides yet to drop a point in the division after two games.

Orient took the lead in the 19th minute when Paul McCallum struck his second league goal in as many games.

A cross was cleared as far as Dean Cox on the edge of the area, who lobbed it back into the path of McCallum to head home.

Carl Baker's stoppage-time goal sealed a stunning late fightback by MK Dons as the Sky Bet Championship side came from behind to defeat League Two Leyton Orient in the Capital One Cup.

For a long time it looked as if an own goal by Dons captain Dean Lewington was going to cause a shock result but the hosts managed to strike twice at the death to reach the second round.

Orient surprisingly went ahead after 36 minutes when Lewington, under pressure from Ollie Palmer, saw Dean Cox's cross come off his...
