Jamie Vardy struggles as Leicester attack fails to fire vs. Copenhagen

Leicester City edged ever closer to the round of 16 of the Champions League, but it was a poor display by the Foxes away at Copenhagen. In a lacklustre 0-0 draw of few chances, City failed to take control of the game but they will nonetheless be content with a hard-earned point.

Positives

Leicester still haven't conceded on their travels in the Champions League. Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is proving a big occasion player, making another brilliant last minute save to prevent a Copenhagen win. The Dane also pulled off superb stops in the 1-0 home win over Copenhagen and in the draw with Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Negatives

Leicester looked toothless in front of goal managing just one shot on target all game. Jamie Vardy now hasn't scored in 12 matches for club and country -- a barren run that dates back to Sept. 10.

Manager rating out of 10

6 -- Claudio Ranieri was wrong to drop Andy King even though, as a former Copenhagen player, Daniel Amartey offered a bit of inside knowledge. Replacing right-back Danny Simpson with Luis Hernandez was also a needless tinker. The Italian will argue he was guarding certain players against fatigue, but with a place in the round of 16 at stake Ranieri should have put out his strongest XI.

Player ratings (1-10; 10 = best; players introduced after 70 minutes get no rating)

GK Kasper Schmeichel, 8 -- Saved Leicester a point when he pushed away Andreas Cornelius' header late on. He is yet to concede a goal in the Champions League.

DF Luis Hernandez, 6 -- Didn't really justify his inclusion or utilise his dangerous long throw, but at least came away with a clean sheet.

DF Robert Huth, 7 -- Solid, although very rarely tested. Relished the physical battle with Cornelius and Federico Santander.

DF Wes Morgan, 6 -- A little too casual in possession at times, although thankfully wasn't punished.

DF Christian Fuchs, 6 -- Needed to push forward more, while at the back Santander and Cornelius targeted him aerially.

MF Riyad Mahrez, 5 -- Looked disinterested at times. Clearly didn't enjoy playing on the heavy, cut-up pitch. Has to start taking more games by the scruff of the neck.

MF Danny Drinkwater, 6 -- Looked far less comfortable playing alongside Amartey. Did a lot of running but found few incisive passes.

MF Daniel Amartey, 5 -- Failed to shine against his former club. Tracked back well, but didn't see nearly enough of the ball.

FW Jeffrey Schlupp, 6 -- Had Leicester's only shot on target, but it was a tame effort that dribbled into the hands of keeper Robin Olsen. FW, Ahmed Musa, 6 -- Couldn't follow up a promising performance and goal against Spurs last time out, but that was largely down to a total lack of service.

FW Jamie Vardy, 5 -- One of his worst performances of the season. Constantly forced out wide, had just one shot off target and 37 touches all game.

Substitutes: FW Shinji Okazaki, NR -- Couldn't make an impact off the bench, although at least gave Leicester a bit more energy.
