Villarreal and LA Galaxy agree to fee for Jonathan dos Santos transfer

New England outlasted the Galaxy in a 7-goal thriller to earn three points at home.

The LA Galaxy and Villarreal have agreed to a fee for the transfer of Jonathan dos Santos that will see the Mexico international swap La Liga for Major League Soccer.

Confirmation of the move was reported by Goal on Tuesday night -- for a fee of $5 million -- one day after a source told ESPN's Taylor Twellman that the player and club were in talks over a contract.

Sources told ESPN's Armando Neria on Wednesday that Dos Santos is in Los Angeles to complete his physical.

New England outlasted the Galaxy in a 7-goal thriller to earn three points at home.

The LA Galaxy are negotiating a contract with Villarreal midfielder Jonathan Dos Santos to become the club's third designated player, a source has told ESPN's Taylor Twellman.

If a deal is completed, Dos Santos would join his brother, fellow Mexico international Giovani Dos Santos, at the StubHub Center.

Signing Jonathan Dos Santos would also likely rule out any potential move for the Galaxy to add free agent Zlatan Ibrahimovic after he recovers from a knee injury. A source told ESPN FC in March...

NYCFC beats Chicago Fire with 10 men; Galaxy lose fifth straight

NYCFC went a man down early but netted two second-half goals to hold off the Chicago Fire.

New York City FC overcame an early red card to beat the Chicago Fire 2-1 on Saturday.

After Yangel Herrera was sent off in the 12th minute, David Villa and Frederic Brillant scored early in the second half to carry the 10 men to victory.

Herrera had already been booked for one lunging challenge when he came in late again, stomping on Bastian Schweinsteiger's foot to receive his marching orders.
