Robbie Keane shows son who's boss in garden kickabout/life lesson

Drew Brees sends Southampton his well wishes, Robbie Keane doesn't let up versus his young son and more in The Sweeper.

Messing around in the garden with his son, Robbie Keane was suddenly struck down by a chronic case of CDS -- Competitive Dad Syndrome.

What started as a gentle kickabout quickly got serious when the former Republic of Ireland striker belted a shot past his boy and into the top corner.

Keane's reaction, hilariously, was somewhat less than magnanimous.

"What do you say about that, little Keano?"

In a salary-cap league, that was where teams -- especially those willing to shell out money for the league's highest paid players -- could get the most bang for the buck. But this offseason, there has been a noticeable shift in where teams allocate their precious financial assets.

LA Galaxy extend Jelle Van Damme contract, making him a DP

Sebastian Salazar, Doug McIntyre and Jeff Carlisle discuss all things MLS with the 2017 season on the horizon.

The LA Galaxy extended the contract of defender Jelle Van Damme on Wednesday, making the Belgian veteran a designated player for the start of the 2017 season.

Van Damme, who was a finalist for the 2016 MLS Defender of the Year award, will be LA's third DP. Giovani dos Santos and newly signed French winger Romain Alessandrini occupy the Galaxy's other two designated player spots.

Romain Alessandrini joins LA Galaxy as designated player

Romain Alessandrini has joined the LA Galaxy ahead of the 2017 season.

The LA Galaxy signed French midfielder Romain Alessandrini as a designated player on Tuesday.

Alessandrini, 27, has spent his entire career in France and joins from Marseille, where he played for the past two and a half seasons.

A league source told ESPN FC that the Galaxy and MLS will pay Marseille a transfer fee of $1.75 million, with Alessandrini earning a salary of $2m per season.
