Edinson Cavani brace boosts PSG to within point of Ligue 1 lead

Edison Cavani scored both goals in PSG's win over Nantes, bringing his Ligue 1 goal tally to 20.

Edinson Cavani maintained his prolific goal scoring form with both goals as Paris Saint-Germain climbed to within a point of Ligue 1 leaders Nice following a 2-0 win at Nantes.

Uruguay international Cavani opened the scoring midway through the first half and made it 26 goals in as many matches for PSG in all competitions this season by adding a second in the 65th minute.

The victory lifts Unai Emery's side level on points with second-placed Monaco and one behind Nice, who were held to a 1-1 draw...

Julian Draxler lifts PSG on Ligue 1 debut; Lorient off the bottom

Julian Draxler was on the scoresheet again for PSG on Saturday.

Julian Draxler scored on his Ligue 1 debut as Paris Saint-Germain beat Rennes 1-0 at Roazhon Park.

The Germany international joined PSG from Wolfsburg for a reported £38 million at the start of the January transfer window, and made his first appearance in the Coupe de France tie against Bastia, scoring the final goal of a 7-0 trashing.

Draxler was on target again on Saturday to put the defending Ligue 1 champions ahead late in the first half.

PSG, who have now claimed back-to-back wins in the...

Silva scores twice as PSG beat Metz in Coupe de la Ligue; Bordeaux win

PSG captain Thiago Silva believes the side are getting to grips with Unai Emery's ideas after their win over Metz.

Thiago Silva scored a header in each half as defending champions Paris Saint-Germain beat Metz 2-0 to reach the Coupe de la Ligue semifinals on Wednesday.

Both of Silva's goals came from Angel Di Maria corners and took the Brazilian defender's tally to four in the last three games.

Although Metz hardly threatened, PSG were thankful for Silva's input given that top scorer Edinson Cavani was wasteful with his chances in front of goal.

After Cavani missed a good chance early on, shooting straight...

Struggling Metz stopped a three-game losing streak in Ligue 1 as Mustapha Diallo's injury-time own-goal earned them a 2-2 draw with Guingamp.

Metz, who have only won once since the end of September, started brightly and took the lead in the 12th minute through Opa Nguette.

However, Guingamp turned things around thanks to Jimmy Briand's second-half double, coming in the 49th and 74th minutes.

Metz piled the pressure on and were rewarded in the first minute of injury time when Guingamp's Diallo put through...
