Chivas, Toluca keep climbing, Tigres still No. 1 in Liga MX Power Rankings

Pumas got their first win of the 2017 Clausura, narrowly defeating Cruz Azul 1-0 in front of a sold out crowd.

About 275,000 spectators went to a soccer stadium nearby to watch Liga MX action; it was an amazing week in that regard and the games didn't fail to rise to the occasion. After two weeks of games, Tigres has yet to score a goal, while Toluca and Pachuca are on top of the table with six points each.

Matias Almeyda's Chivas were eliminated from the playoffs twice by Club America in 2016, but this was a positive year.

GUADALAJARA, Mexico -- Chivas coach Matias Almeyda shuffled uncomfortably in his seat and shrugged in despair. He had just been asked if the season should be categorized as a failure after witnessing his side crash out of the 2016 Apertura quarterfinals against Club America.
