Barcelona make Marlon Santos loan from Fluminense permanent

Marlon Santos made two appearances for Barcelona's senior team at the end of the 2016-17 season.

Barcelona have made their first signing of the summer with the confirmation that they will execute their option to make Fluminense defender Marlon Santos's loan deal permanent.

Marlon, 21, signed a three-year deal with the Catalan club and will form part of the first team's preseason tour of the United States under new coach Ernesto Valverde.

No fee has been revealed by either club, but as ESPN FC reported earlier in the season it's estimated to be somewhere in the region of €6 million.

Brazilian defender Igor Juliao is set for a second stint with Sporting KC after a loan deal from parent club Fluminense.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Sporting Kansas City has acquired Brazilian defender Igor Juliao on loan from Fluminense FC for next season, reuniting the 22-year-old with the MLS club where he spent the 2014 season.

Barcelona sit Marlon for Copa del Rey to avoid potential rules breach

Barcelona have confirmed to ESPN FC that Marlon Santos was left out of Wednesday's Copa del Rey game against Hercules because the club didn't want to risk making a similar error to the one which saw Real Madrid kicked out of the competition last season.

Madrid's decision to play Denis Cheryshev in their game against Cadiz breached the cup's rules as the Russian had carried over a suspension from the previous campaign, when he was on loan at Villarreal.

Ronaldinho to play Dec. 3 friendly for Mexico third-tier club Cinco Estrellas

Brazil great Ronaldinho, who is not currently signed with a club, will play a Dec. 3 friendly for Mexican league third-division club Cinco Estrellas.
