Ajax drew 1-1 at home to PAOK in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

Shakhtar Donetsk began their Champions League campaign with a 2-0 win over Young Boys in the third qualifying round on Tuesday.

Bernard opened the scoring in the 27th minute, and the Swiss club's hopes of finding an own goal were dimed when Milan Vilotic was sent off with a second yellow card 10 minutes after half-time.

Yevhen Seleznyov added a goal in the 75th minute to give the Ukraine club a two-goal advantage ahead of the second leg.

BATE Borisov continued their quest to feature in the group...

UCL - Celtic rally after first-leg loss to see off Lincoln Red Imps

Celtic put part-time Lincoln Red Imps in their place with a 3-0 Parkhead win that set up a Champions League third-round qualifying meeting with Astana.

The Hoops had been embarrassed by a 1-0 defeat in last week's first leg in Gibraltar, in what was new boss Brendan Rodgers' first competitive game.

However, Celtic burst out of the traps eager to get revenge and three first-half goals from defender Mikael Lustig, striker Leigh Griffiths and winger Patrick Roberts had the tie finished before the...

Gibraltar side stun Brendan Rodgers' Celtic in Champions League qualifier

The ESPN FC crew discuss Celtic's loss to Lincoln Red Imps in Champions League qualifying.

Brendan Rodgers' first game as Celtic boss ended in a humiliating 1-0 defeat to Gibraltar's Lincoln Red Imps in the first leg of their second round Champions League qualifier on Tuesday.

Celtic laboured in the searing heat of the goalless first 45 minutes and were then stunned when Lee Casciaro, who had scored Gibraltar's first international goal against Scotland at Hampden in 2015, sensationally put the part-timers ahead in the 47th minute.

Hoops striker Leigh Griffiths hit the woodwork twice as...

Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino: 'Job done' against Qarabag in Europa

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino declared it was "job done" after his side reached the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Pochettino sprang a surprise by picking striker Harry Kane in a strong starting line-up against Group J minnows Qarabag in Baku on Thursday evening, despite facing Chelsea less than 72 hours later.

But the move paid off as Kane nodded in the winner in a 1-0 victory to ensure Tottenham's longest-ever journey for a competitive fixture -- a 5,000-mile round trip to the capital...
