Damir Kreilach joins Real Salt Lake after move from Union Berlin

Damir Kreilach joined Union Berlin in 2013 and spent more than a year as the club's captain.

Real Salt Lake has signed Damir Kreilach from German second-tier club Union Berlin, allowing the 28-year-old midfielder to fulfill a goal of playing in the United States.

Kreilach, a former Croatia youth international who had been under contract at Union Berlin until 2019, will join Real Salt Lake immediately, the German team announced on Wednesday. The transfer fee was not disclosed.

Union Berlin announce €38m plan to take stadium capacity to 37,000

Union Berlin fans will be watching their football in a 37,000-capacity stadium by 2020.

Union Berlin have announced plans to increase the capacity of their Alten Forsterei stadium from 22,012 to around 37,000 by 2020.

Seating capacity, meanwhile, will be increased to more than 8,000 seats to meet German Football League requirements for top-flight football.

Union Berlin accuse Borussia Dortmund of putting fans at risk

Union Berlin have accused Borussia Dortmund of "amateurish and chaotic organisation" after thousands of supporters were forced through a small, fenced-off area before Wednesday's DFB Pokal clash, with one visiting fan telling ESPN FC: "I feared I would not get out of there."

The match at the Westfalenstadion, which Dortmund ultimately won after a penalty shootout, had to be delayed by 15 minutes as a result of the scenes outside the stadium.

Prior to the match, a report in the Berlin media said...

Weidenfeller's heroics keep Dortmund alive in the German Cup

It was the cup drama that was promised on the tin against second division side Union Berlin on Wednesday night, as Borussia Dortmund needed to win on penalties to reach the third round of the German cup after 120 minutes yielded a 1-1 draw.

Positives

Youth. Dortmund's squad may be decimated by injuries, but even with some options left, Tuchel granted three teenagers a start ahead of the derby meaning that at least some players got a rest ahead of the all-important Revierderby against Schalke...

Depleted Dortmund's depth to be tested once again vs. Union Berlin

Wednesday night Borussia Dortmund host 2. Bundesliga side Union Berlin in the second round of the DFB Pokal. Although the German cup is the most realistic chance for the Black and Yellows to win a trophy this season, the focus going into the match will be somewhat diverted to Saturday's big Revierderby against Schalke.

On paper, a home match against any side from Germany's second division should be a routine win. However, the most recent 3-3 draw against Ingolstadt gave proof that routine...
