Puebla pledges free beer if club loses to Juarez

Puebla fans can look forward to free beer if the club loses on Thursday.

PUEBLA -- Puebla fans who attend the club's Liga MX match against Juarez on Thursday will receive free beer if the home side fails to win, the club has announced.

The free beer would be distributed at the club's next home game on Matchday 9 (Sept. 13) against Atletico de San Luis.

"If we don't win on Thursday, you get a free beer in the match against @AtletideSanLuis!," read a tweet from Puebla's official Twitter account.

The Camoteros have not won in their past five matches and are second-to-bottom...

FC Juarez buys Lobos BUAP, takes spot in Liga MX

Second division FC Juarez will be play in Liga MX starting from the 2019 Apertura, after it bought first division club Lobos BUAP, Liga MX confirmed on Tuesday.

"The situation is like this: Juarez will participate in Liga MX next season in place of Lobos BUAP," Liga MX president Enrique Bonilla said at a press conference in Cancun on Tuesday. "It's done. It's been agreed by the assembly and from this moment we'll work on the schedule."

Club America is the 2019 Copa MX champion after a penalty from Emanuel Aguilera secured Las Aguilas a 1-0 win over FC Juarez on Wednesday.

Aguilera scored the only goal of the game from the spot in the 40th minute after Henry Martin was fouled in the box.

Second-division side Juarez pressed hard for an equalizer, but in the end America held on for a record sixth Copa title.

America is now the reigning Liga MX and cup holder in Mexico, and the Copa MX victory means Las Aguilas has won more titles...

FMF launches investigation into taunts directed at Juarez's Gilberto Barbosa

The Mexican football federation (FMF) is investigating a report of racist taunts towards FC Juarez player Gilberto Barbosa in an Ascenso MX game against Alebrijes de Oaxaca last Friday.

Brazilian Barbosa was an unused substitute in the match, but was allegedly the subject of "monkey" chants as he warmed up on the touchline, bringing the player to tears.

"His pain was so great that he stopped warming up and went back to the bench crying," FC Juarez coach Miguel de Jesus Fuentes said afterwards.
