Cologne won't demand rematch after VAR error in 5-0 loss to Dortmund

Steve Nicol can't believe Cologne are seeking a rematch against Dortmund after a questionable VAR ruling in their 5-0 loss.

Cologne will not demand that their 5-0 defeat at Borussia Dortmund is replayed, the Bundesliga club announced on Tuesday.

The club did, however, reiterate their stance that Dortmund were incorrectly awarded a goal by the VAR review system and urged the German FA (DFB) to offer clarity on the issue.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos put the ball past Cologne keeper Timo Horn in injury time of the first half, but referee Patrick Ittrich initially disallowed the goal for an apparent foul.

Cologne want to force a rematch after an irregular goal was wrongfully awarded in their 5-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.

Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos put the ball into the net in injury time of the first half following a corner. Initially, referee Patrick Ittrich had blown the whistle after spotting a foul on Cologne goalkeeper Timo Horn in the six-yard box, but that call was overruled by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), giving the hosts a 2-0 lead before the break.
