Blair Alston's winner gave Falkirk a third straight victory as they defeated bottom-of-the-table Livingston 1-0 in the Scottish Championship.

The Bairns had beaten Alloa and Hibernian in their last two league games and made it nine points from nine when Alston struck after 28 minutes.

The visitors could have gone ahead before Alston's opener when Will Vaulks' long-range strike cannoned off the woodwork.

Falkirk did not have to wait long for their decisive goal, though, as Alston collected a pass from...

David McCracken smashed home a last-minute winner as Falkirk secured a third straight win in all competitions with a 1-0 home victory against Hibernian.

Falkirk defender McCracken thundered home a low shot from the edge of the penalty area when it seemed the points were to be shared for only his third goal for the club.

Hibs striker Paul Heffernan's early shot was blocked and Falkirk midfielder Rory Loy fired into the side-netting soon after to set the trend in a see-saw encounter.

Craig Sibbald's second-half strike was enough to see Falkirk edge past Cowdenbeath 1-0 in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.

Midfielder Kudus Oyenuga wasted a decent chance for the visitors when he blazed over inside the box after 22 minutes.

At the other end, Blair Alston skimmed the crossbar with a long-range effort before team-mate Rory Loy forced a good stop from goalkeeper Robbie Thomson.

Sibbald then put Falkirk ahead in the 73rd minute when he made no mistake inside the box after reacting...

Alloa's five-match unbeaten run was finally ended as they were edged out 3-2 by Falkirk at the Indodrill Stadium.

The visitors got off to a flying start when Alex Cooper dispatched a fine free-kick after just 10 minutes.

Mark Docherty levelled things up on the half-hour mark, finding the top corner with a neat strike just inside the penalty area.

But Rory Loy restored the Bairns' lead moments before the break when he finished from close range following some good work by Cooper.

They doubled their advantage...

Hearts extended their unbeaten start to the season in the Scottish Championship to stay top as goals from Kevin McHattie and Soufian El Hassnaoui secured a 2-1 win at Falkirk.

Defender McHattie and Dutch striker El Hassnaoui both struck their second goals of the season to put Hearts two-up at half-time and although Falkirk substitute Botti Bia Bi pulled one back for the home side after the interval it was not enough.

El Hassnaoui forced a fine save from Falkirk goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald before McHattie...
