Exeter maintained their unbeaten start to the League Two season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Lincoln at St James' Park.

Reuben Reid grabbed the only goal of the game in the 43th minute with a fine strike following neat build-up play from Liam McAlinden.

The Grecians had the best chance of the opening 30 minutes through Jake Taylor when found himself one-one-one with goalkeeper Paul Farman but he could only fire over the crossbar.

Lincoln responded with a neat passing move that led to Jordan Maguire-Drew...

Kaiyne Woolery scored on his Swindon debut as they drew 1-1 with Exeter at the County Ground.

Woolery struck 10 minutes into the second half to cancel out Liam McAlinden's first-half opener as the points were shared.

Exeter started quickly and almost went ahead 22 minutes in when Troy Brown's effort was blocked on the line.

The visitors deservedly took the lead in the 28th minute. Lawrence Vigouroux parried Reuben Reid's strike onto the post, but McAlinden was on hand to volley in the rebound.

Karl Robinson's selection gamble paid off as Charlton came from behind late on to beat Exeter 2-1 in the Carabao Cup.

The Addicks boss made 11 changes from the side which opened their League One campaign with a 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers.

And it looked like Robinson was going to be left red-faced when Lee Holmes' 54th-minute free-kick evaded a clutch of players and nestled in the far corner.

But Charlton staged a stirring fightback to seal their place in the second round.

Billy Clarke came off the bench...

Exeter showed no signs of a play-off hangover with a comfortable 1-0 win over Cambridge at St James' Park.

The Grecians were beaten finalists in last season's League Two play-off final but an early Reuben Reid goal was enough to see them beat a poor U's side.

The only goal of an entertaining game came in the fifth minute after Jordan Moore-Taylor's long ball was needlessly handled inside the penalty box by Jake Carroll. Although Reid saw his penalty saved by David Forde, the ball came straight back...

Chelsea sign Exeter teenager Ethan Ampadu, clubs in talks over fee

Gab Marcotti evaluates Chelsea's summer plans, including attacking options and defensive target Antonio Rudiger.
Ethan Ampadu trained with the senior Wales squad ahead of Euro 2016.

Chelsea have won the race to sign teenage Exeter defender Ethan Ampadu.

Ampadu, 16, who trained with the senior Wales squad ahead of Euro 2016, has signed a deal with the Premier League champions after deciding to leave Exeter, the League Two club announced.

Exeter will not receive a transfer fee as Ampadu had yet to sign scholarship forms at St James Park, but the Grecians are entitled to compensation for their academy product.

In a statement on their official website, the club said they hoped...
