Everton boss Ronald Koeman to add creativity to ranks in summer

Brian McBride talks Ross Barkley's future as the Everton midfielder finishes up a forgetful season with Everton.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman will attempt to add more creativity to his squad in the summer window.

Koeman's side struggled away from home this season, scoring just 20 goals in 19 matches and, after 25-goal Romelu Lukaku, their second-highest Premier League scorer was Ross Barkley with five.

The manager has warned midfielder Barkley, who could be sold in the coming months having stalled on an extension to his existing contract, that he is looking for similar players to perform his role.

Everton underperformers 'something we need to address' - Phil Jagielka

Despite beating Everton, Arsenal will not be playing Champions League football next season for the first time in 20 years.

Everton captain Phil Jagielka admits some players did not do themselves any favours in the eyes of manager Ronald Koeman during Sunday's insipid 3-1 defeat to 10-man Arsenal.

Koeman has already shown, in his handling of Ross Barkley -- an academy graduate and boyhood Evertonian -- that he is not the sentimental type and is not prepared to accept anything less than 100 percent commitment.

Uncertainty still surrounds the 23-year-old's future following his reluctance to sign the contract on offer to...

LONDON -- Everton manager Ronald Koeman has said Ross Barkley's future is likely to be decided this week.

"I don't know," Koeman said when asked if Barkley, who has one year left on his contract, will stay at Goodison Park beyond this summer. "I will speak to the board tomorrow and we will make a statement about that."

Barkley, who has recently been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, was on the substitutes' bench as Everton lost 3-1 at Arsenal on Sunday but he was introduced in the 26th minute for Tom...

Everton manager Ronald Koeman not confident Ross Barkley will stay

Paul Mariner compares the Ross Barkley of last season with his performances this season and explains how he can return to form.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has said he is not confident that Ross Barkley will stay but is "not worried" about the situation.

Koeman said Everton were looking for players who operate in Barkley's position irrespective of whether or not the 23-year-old midfielder signs a new deal, with his current contract expiring in summer 2018.

The board have been working to try to get Barkley re-signed, and the England international was told by Koeman last week that he had until the end of the season to make...
