Dumbarton will look to open up a nine-point gap on Alloa when the sides meet at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium without midfielder Jamie Lindsay, who has a groin injury.

New recruit Stevie Ross has picked up a knock in training and is rated as a doubt, with manager Stephen Aitken looking for his side to start the match properly.

Aitken explained: "We started quite sloppy defensively against Falkirk and found ourselves two goals down. We improved after that and took the game to them but we lost...

Falkirk moved to the top of the Ladbrokes Championship with a 2-1 win against Dumbarton.

Goals in the opening 14 minutes from Blair Alston and Craig Sibbald proved enough to move them above Rangers and Queen of the South in the table.

All the goals were scored in a whirlwind first half-hour at Falkirk Stadium.

Alston fired in off the crossbar following slack defending from the visitors in the fifth minute before Sibbald exchanged passes with Luke Leahy, cut in from the right and curled into the top...

Queen of the South maintained their 100 per cent start to the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship with a 2-0 victory at Dumbarton.

Mark Millar missed an early chance for the visitors before goalkeeper Mark Brown saved his next attempt moments later.

Kyle Jacobs, Ryan Conroy and Christopher Higgins failed to test Brown as they did not make the most of a good spell for the Doonhammers.

Scott Taggart and Kevin Cawley had chances for the home side but Queens took the lead ahead of the break. After Dumbarton...

Dumbarton paid the price for missing a stoppage-time penalty as the Scottish Championship side were beaten 1-0 by League Two Queen's Park after extra-time in their Petrofac Training Cup second-round clash.

The referee pointed to the penalty spot two minutes into time added on when substitute Steven Craig was tripped in the area but Garry Fleming fired his kick high and wide.

That sent the match into extra-time and Queen's Park needed only four minutes of it to snatch the lead as Joe Bradley fired home...

Garry Fleming's late penalty continued Dumbarton's winning start to the league season when they claimed a 2-1 victory at St Mirren in the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship.

The visitors took the lead after 27 minutes when Willie Gibson's free-kick took a heavy deflection which took it past Mark Ridgers.

It was nearly two within minutes as Grant Gallagher found space in the box before heading wide an excellent cross from goalscorer Gibson. Gallagher soon turned and drove forward from midfield before...
