Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane insists Gareth Bale's latest injury setback could not be avoided.

Bale lasted just 35 minutes of Sunday's defeat to Barcelona before limping off at the Bernabeu with a calf problem, which has been described as a "grade 2 injury" by the club's medical staff and will reportedly see him sidelined for up to three weeks.

It has been a frustrating campaign for the former Tottenham man, who spent three months out earlier this season with an ankle problem.

Neymar was sent off as Barcelona lost ground on Real Madrid in the La Liga title race with a defeat at Malaga.

Neymar was sent off for the first time in his Barcelona career as his side lost ground in the title race in La Liga with a 2-0 defeat at Malaga on Saturday.

Barcelona had a chance to gain on Real Madrid, who were held to a draw earlier in the day by Atletico Madrid, but instead fell three points back of the leaders, who still have a game in hand.
