Jonathan Rodriguez joins Deportivo La Coruna on loan from Benfica

Jonathan Rodriguez joined Benfica earlier this year after playing for Penarol and now will move to Depor.

Deportivo La Coruna have reached an agreement with Benfica to sign Uruguay international Jonathan Rodriguez on a season long-loan.

The 22-year-old forward will undergo a medical on Friday before completing his temporary move to the Primera Division club.

The Galician club announced on Thursday in a statement: "Real Club Deportivo and Sport Lisboa e Benfica have reached a preliminary agreement for Jonathan Rodriguez to wear the Depor jersey this season on loan."

Spare a thought for 20-year-old winger Julio Rey who, after spending his entire career milling around in the Spanish fourth tier, found himself on the brink of joining Deportivo La Coruna over the weekend, only to see his big move dashed at the 11th hour.

Luis Alberto leaves Liverpool for loan at Deportivo La Coruna

Luis Alberto spent last season on loan at Malaga.

Liverpool midfielder Luis Alberto has joined Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna on a season's loan.

The former Spain under-21 international completed the move after passing a medical, Deportivo confirmed.

He has not started a Premier League game for Liverpool since arriving from Sevilla for £6.8 million in June 2013, and spent last season on loan in Spain with Malaga.
