Deportivo La Coruna part ways with coach Victor Sanchez

Deportivo La Coruna have parted ways with their manager, Victor Sanchez.

Deportivo La Coruna on Monday parted ways with their manager, Victor Sanchez del Amo, after a season that saw them win only two of their last 22 La Liga games and lose 8-0 at home by Barcelona on April 20 as they finished 15th overall in the table.

"The club would like to thank the coach for his support, dedication, effort and professionalism during this stage as he led the team in the Primera Division," the club statement said.

ESPN FC's Steve Nicol explains where Real Madrid could have improved this season.

Real Madrid won their final Primera Division match of the season 2-0 at Deportivo La Coruna but had to settle for runners-up spot behind Barcelona.

To claim the title, Real needed to beat Deportivo and Barca to fail to win at Granada.

And with the score still at 0-0 in Andalusia, Zinedine Zidane's men took an early lead at Riazor as Cristiano Ronaldo converted - but Barcelona nerves were soon settled, with them also going in front.

Moments after that, Ronaldo added his second to take him to 35 league...

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane believes anything can happen as his side vies for the Liga title.

Keylor Navas and Dani Carvajal have returned to full training with Real Madrid but Gareth Bale and Lucas Vazquez remain injury doubts for Los Blancos' final push to overtake Barcelona for the Spanish league title.

Zinedine Zidane's side go to Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday a point behind leaders Barca, who will retain the trophy should they match or better Madrid's result in their game at Granada.

Navas and Carvajal missed last Sunday's 3-2 win at home to Valencia due to injury concerns, while Bale...

Faycal Fajr and Lucas Perez scored in either half as Deportivo La Coruna secured another season in the Primera Division with a 2-0 win at Villarreal.

Deportivo went into Sunday's game four points above the relegation zone and claimed the victory they needed at El Madrigal to retain their top-flight status with a game to spare.

Villarreal earned a top-four finish by beating Valencia last weekend but their season continues to peter out after they suffered a European hangover.
