D.C. United red card rescinded after Union player admits he wasn't kicked

Steve Nicol and Shaka Hislop are delighted with Haris Medunjanin's show of sportsmanship after admitting to the referee he was not touched by Luciano Acosta.
Luciano Acosta is given a straight red by the referee, who then changes his mind on the sending off.

Philadelphia midfielder Haris Medunjanin admitted he talked the referee into rescinding a red card shown D.C. United's Luciano Acosta for a foul on the Union player on Saturday night.

Acosta fouled Medunjanin while battling for the ball near the sideline, and referee Sorin Stoica showed the D.C. player a red card after believing that he had reached out to kick Medunjanin.

The hosts got off to a perfect start when Amobi Okugo redirected a Minnesota cross through the six-yard box into his own net to put Portland down 1-0.

However, the Timbers levelled before the break from the penalty spot, with Diego Valeri finishing from the spot after drawing a foul from Minnesota keeper Bobby Shuttleworth in the...

David Villa rallies NYCFC to win over Sounders; wild Orlando-Montreal draw

NYCFC had star man David Villa to thank for their three points against Seattle, as his brace turned around a 1-0 deficit.

David Villa scored his 50th and 51st career MLS goals to help New York City FC rally to beat the Seattle Sounders 2-1 at a rain-soaked Yankee Stadium on Saturday.

Christian Roldan gave the Sounders the lead with a fine finish in the 40th minute, just as the rainfall began to make play difficult.

Passes along the ground soon became impossible as the ball stopped in puddles, but Villa still managed to take control and hit the crossbar in first-half stoppage time.

The former Spain striker then equalized...
