It's a long race to the finish, but Corinthians are off to a fast start

So far, Corinthians have had plenty to celebrate while flattening the competition in Brazil.

One of the key selling points of the Brazilian Championship is its lack of predictability. The giant country has so many big teams that a Spain-type situation, with two clubs way ahead of the pack, is not seen as a likely outcome. There are, so the saying goes, at least 12 clubs big enough to go into the season with hopes of winning the title.

SAO PAULO -- A fan of Brazilian club Palmeiras has died of stab wounds after a fight with Corinthians supporters following a match between the two Sao Paulo teams.

It's the second violent death of a Brazilian football fan in less than a week.

Older, wiser Jo enjoying renaissance as Corinthians' leading striker

Jo's arc from Premier League joke to reborn striker has been nothing short of fun at Corinthians.

Tianjin Quanjian's Alexandre Pato: AC Milan thought my career was over

Alejandro Moreno believes the fault lies with AC Milan regarding Gianluigi Donnarumma's contract situation.

Former AC Milan forward Alexandre Pato says he was forced to leave the Serie A club to save his career after being told he would never play again.

The Brazilian started having problems with injuries in 2011 and was restricted to just 25 appearances in two seasons. All attempts by Milan's medical staff to get him back to full fitness failed and he has told Gazzetta dello Sport how he felt compelled to leave despite his love for the club, because he was told he had no future in the game.

"[Then AC...

Brazil corruption probe now involves six World Cup stadiums

Maracana wide view Rio
The Maracana in in Rio de Janeiro could be a target of a corruption investigation.

An investigation of Brazil's biggest constructor found new evidence of possible corruption in the building and financing of half of the 2014 World Cup stadiums.

Plea bargain testimonies from Odebrecht executives published on Wednesday by Brazil's top court indicated irregularities in six arenas: The Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, which hosted the final, the new Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo, and in Brasilia, Recife, Fortaleza, and Manaus.

The testimonies open the door for investigations of corruption,...
