MLS veteran Conor Casey signs with Columbus Crew SC

Conor Casey has scored 71 MLS goals since 2007.

Columbus Crew SC have signed free agent forward Conor Casey, the MLS club announced on Tuesday.

Casey, 34, is sixth among active players with 71 MLS goals in the regular season.

He will join the MLS Cup finalists to add depth behind star striker Kei Kamara, who has yet to report to training camp amid a reported contract dispute.

Casey started his career in Germany with Borussia Dortmund before moving to Mainz in 2004. He then joined MLS in 2007 and won MLS Cup with Colorado in 2010.

The Chicago Fire selected Jack Harrison from Wake Forest as the No. 1 overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft.

BALTIMORE -- Trades were the order of the day at the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.

The Chicago Fire selected Wake Forest midfielder Jack Harrison with the first pick of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, only to trade him to New York City FC for general allocation money and the No. 4 overall pick.

Chicago used that selection to pick Stanford defender Brandon Vincent.
