Calvin Andrew's fine strike helped Rochdale finish the season on a winning note as they downed relegated Colchester 2-1 in Essex.

The visitors came close to scoring in the ninth minute when Joseph Bunney's effort was cleared off the line by Frankie Kent.

And Dale took an 18th-minute lead through Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, who beat Joe Edwards to the ball and exchanged passes with Ian Henderson before confidently slotting home.

Barnsley's quest for a Sky Bet League One play-off place will go down to the final day after Tom Lapslie's last-gasp goal secured a 2-2 draw for relegated Colchester at Oakwell.

George Moncur scored a first-half opener to put the visitors ahead before Ashley Fletcher looked to have won it with a second-half brace.

However, Colchester claimed a point deep into stoppage time through Lapslie's header, leaving the sixth-placed Tykes level on 71 points with Scunthorpe.

The visitors started brightly, and...

Kevin Keen has left his role as Colchester manager with two matches of the season remaining.

The former Reading assistant coach only took over The U's in December last year in what was his first permanent managerial role after previous spells as caretaker boss at Macclesfield and West Ham.

He was nominated for the League One Manager of the Month award in March after a run of just two losses in six matches.

However, too much work was left to be done and he leaves the club second from bottom in the...

Burton kept up the heat on League One leaders Wigan thanks to an emphatic 3-0 victory at Colchester that relegated the hosts.

Lucas Akins netted a hat-trick to buoy his second-placed side - who had failed to win in their previous six games - and inflict relegation on the 10-man U's.

Colchester went into the game with only the slimmest chance of clambering out of the bottom four.

However, their flickering hopes took a major nosedive after being reduced to 10 men in the 17th minute.

Full-back Joe Edwards...
