Nottingham Forest lost for the first time under new manager Dougie Freedman as Charlton shaded a tight encounter in which all three goals were scored in the first half.

Frederic Bulot struck both goals for mid-table Charlton, netting in the seventh and 38th minutes either side of a Michail Antonio equaliser, to earn his side a 2-1 win.

For Forest, the defeat was a setback to their slim hopes of a late play-off challenge, which had been fuelled by five wins in Freedman's first six games since succeeding...

Tony Watt ensured Huddersfield manager Chris Powell suffered a nightmare return to former club Charlton as he netted a brace in his side's 3-0 win.

Powell received a rapturous reception on his first time back to The Valley - and then watched man-of-the-match Watt tear his side apart.

Watt capped a fine display by netting two second-half goals to add to Johan Gudmundsson's first-half free-kick.

Powell left for ``footballing reasons'' in March of last year amid suggestions he did not see eye to eye with...

Jesse Lingard scored his first goal for Derby in a classy first-half display that secured a 2-0 win over Charlton to keep the Rams two points clear at the top of the Sky Bet Championship.

The on-loan Manchester United winger finished confidently after Jeff Hendrick had opened the scoring from a cross by former Charlton striker Darren Bent and although the visitors had more of the ball in the second half, Derby were good value for a victory that takes them five points clear of third place.

Derby sprang...

Alou Diarra has struggled to make an impact at West Ham
Alou Diarra has not played since being released by West Ham last summer.

France international Alou Diarra has joined Charlton Athletic on a contract until the end of the season, the Championship club announced on Monday.

The defensive midfielder has been without a club since leaving West Ham following the end of last season. He went on a preseason trial with MLS side Chicago Fire before signing with Charlton.

Diarra, 33, has earned 44 caps for France and played in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups. He has played for a number of Ligue 1 clubs in his career, including Le...

Wigan manager Malky Mackay looks on as Leon Clarke leaves the pitch in a neck brace.

Struggling Wigan's worrying home woes continued as Charlton recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory at the DW Stadium to enhance their own survival prospects in the Championship.

Latics have not won on home soil in six months and their bid to stave off relegation from the took another serious blow as the Addicks claimed all three points to leave their 23rd-placed hosts deep in the mire.

The visitors, who beat Brentford on Valentine's Day, had not won back-to-back fixtures since August but they ended...
