Danny De Silva misses first Central Coast Mariners preseason training session

Central Coast are resigned to losing young gun Daniel De Silva after kicking off preparations for the new A-League season without him.

Despite being contracted for another two seasons, De Silva was nowhere to be seen as the Mariners held their first preseason training session on Thursday under new coach Mike Mulvey.

He joins young midfielder Chris Zuvela in confirming his future at the club after the Sydney academy product had signed on for a second senior professional season.

Central Coast Mariners set to re-sign cult favourite Matt Simon

Matt Simon will be back in yellow and navy next A-League season after committing to a third stint with Central Coast.

The combative impact striker is off contract at Sydney FC and understood to have agreed a deal to return to his roots under new coach Mike Mulvey.

Simon was used mostly off the bench over his three seasons at the Sky Blues under Graham Arnold, his former Mariners coach who handed him a career lifeline in 2015 after he was let go by the struggling Gosford outfit following nine years...

Corey Gameiro joins Central Coast Mariners after leaving Brisane Roar

Corey Gameiro
Corey Gameiro has suffered a series of injury setbacks.

Injury-plagued attacker Corey Gameiro has been thrown an A-League lifeline by the Central Coast Mariners.

The 25-year-old, released by Brisbane Roar last week, has signed on with the Mariners for next season.

It gives the one-time Fulham prospect another chance to get his promising career back on track, with his progress having been repeatedly hampered by fitness issues including three knee reconstructions.

"As an individual, I've been through adversity -- I think the club has gone through that...

Central Coast Mariners can follow Newcastle Jets blueprint - Lawrie McKinna

Lawrie McKinna is hopeful the club he once guided to a premiership can follow Newcastle's blueprint and climb out of the doldrums in the near future.

Before he was plotting the Jets' path back to A-League prominence, McKinna was the heart and soul of their arch-rivals.

It feels like a lifetime ago now, the way the Central Coast Mariners have fallen on such hard times.

But this season's wooden spooners were once the feel-good story of the competition.

McKinna was the face of it in the early days...
