A-League side Central Coast Mariners sack coach Tony Walmsley

A-League club Central Coast Mariners have sacked coach Tony Walmsley after their FFA Cup exit.

Tony Walmsley has been sacked as coach of the Central Coast Mariners in the wake of their disastrous FFA Cup defeat to Green Gully.

Walmsley was appointed caretaker coach in March last year, but steered the Mariners to just five wins from 30 games as well as the wooden spoon in the A-League last season.

Central Coast Mariners sign Blake Powell and Kwabena Appiah

Blake Powell has signed a two-year deal with Central Coast Mariners.

The Central Coast Mariners have signed striker Blake Powell and winger Kwabena Appiah from Wellington Phoenix.

Powell, 25, has scored 12 goals in 42 career A-League appearances, including a four-goal haul against the Western Sydney Wanderers last season that included the second-fastest hat trick in A-League history.
