Chibuku Super Cup exposes deepening rot at CAPS, Dembare

CAPS United and Dynamos were booted out of the Chibuku Super Cup semifinals after identical 2-1 losses to Harare City and Triangle respectively, but more depressing for their followers must have been the revelation that the rot at the two teams actually runs deeper than many had imagined.

CAPS and Dynamos are two of the three traditional heavyweights that have dominated Zimbabwean football for decades, and such a semifinal matchup in years gone by would have almost guaranteed a mouth-watering final...

Giants Dynamos, CAPS dumped out of Chibuku Cup

Lameck Nhamo scored twice inside the opening quarter-hour as Triangle edged Dynamos FC 2-1 on Sunday to reach their first Chibuku Super Cup final, where they meet two-time winners Harare City, who dismissed CAPS United 2-1 a day earlier.

A lot was expected of the Sugar Cane Famers going into this contest given their fine league form, and they did not need long to assert their dominance as Nhamo fired home an unstoppable rising effort from the edge of the box barely six minutes in.

Ngezi's perfect start ends while Highlanders draw

David Temwanjira grabbed a last-gasp equaliser as Shabanie Mine ended the only remaining 100 percent record in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League by holding log leaders Ngezi Platinum to a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Ngezi had gone to Mandava Stadium heavily tipped to make it six wins in a row following a flying start to the new campaign, and they looked the part early on as Terrence Dzukamanja put them ahead in the 37th minute after converting a Michael Charamba cross.

Tonderai Ndiraya's troops then missed...

Ngezi, Bosso, CAPS win, but Dynamos falter again

Ngezi Platinum emerged from match-day 5 with their title credentials reinforced after a last-gasp 1-0 win over Chicken Inn, but Highlanders and FC Platinum did their utmost to keep the pressure on the early pace-setters.

Forward Clive Augusto clinched the winner for Ngezi in the final moments of a tightly-contested encounter to enable the Mhondoro-based upstarts to preserve the only remaining 100 percent record in the new Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League season.

Remarkably, Ngezi are yet to concede...

Bosso down Dynamos, Ngezi make it four in a row

Dynamos' troubled start to the new campaign took another nasty turn as they lost 1-0 at home to eternal rivals Highlanders on Monday for a third defeat in four matches in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League.

Striker Ozias Zibande proved the difference after tapping the ball home from close range on the stroke of half-time to cap a dominant first-half display for Highlanders.

The visitors continued to look the more threatening side after the break and could have notched a couple more goals but for...
