Brighton defender Gaetan Bong is suspended for the visit of Leeds.

The full-back serves a one-game ban following his red card in the goalless draw at Cardiff last weekend, so Sebastien Pocognoli is set for a recall.

Midfielder Beram Kayal is back in training after two months out with an ankle injury but will not be involved.

Liam Rosenior is also close to returning from his ankle problem and is expected back in training next week, while fellow defender Uwe Huenemeier is out with a hand injury.

Brighton missed the chance to go top of the Sky Bet Championship table after an uneventful goalless draw with struggling Cardiff.

Glenn Murray thought he had given the Seagulls the lead in the 79th minute, but the goal was disallowed after referee Roger East pulled play back for a foul.

The result means that Brighton close the gap to just a point to league leaders Newcastle, and remain unbeaten since September. Meanwhile, Cardiff stay in the bottom three.

Brighton staged a second-half fightback to close the gap on Newcastle at the top of the Sky Bet Championship with a 2-1 home win over Fulham.

Kevin McDonald's header had given the visitors a deserved half-time lead but two exquisite finishes from strikers Sam Baldock and Glenn Murray moved the Seagulls to within two points of their promotion rivals.

It was only Fulham's second defeat on their travels this term, and they were denied a late leveller when in-form Albion keeper David Stockdale dived low...

Aston Villa have announced the appointment of Colin Calderwood as the club's new assistant manager.

"I'm delighted to bring Colin to the football club," Bruce told Villa's official website. "We've got an experienced guy and a good football man. It was important for me to get someone of his nous.

Aston Villa extended their unbeaten record under manager Steve Bruce to six Championship games in a row with a 1-1 draw at second-placed Brighton.

Villa top scorer Jonathan Kodjia twice saw headers pushed against the bar by Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale as the visitors carried a greater threat in the closing stages.
