Brighton had Dale Stephens sent off but held on to stretch their unbeaten league run to four games following a forgettable 0-0 draw at Ipswich.

Chances were always at a premium in a poor advert for the Championship, Brighton's Shane Duffy spurning the best chance of the match by shooting over the crossbar from 10 yards.

Ipswich endured their second consecutive goalless draw at Portman Road and were unable to take advantage of Stephens' 81st-minute dismissal for two yellow cards.

Glenn Murray scored a goal in each half to give Brighton their third successive Sky Bet Championship victory in the shape of a comfortable 2-0 home success over Barnsley.

The 32-year-old striker, on a season-long loan from Bournemouth and in his second spell at Albion, has now scored five goals this season - all of them coming at the Amex Stadium.

The victory takes the Seagulls above Barnsley, who lost for the second game running having gone down 2-1 at home to Reading last weekend.

Ten-man Reading booked a place in the fourth round of the EFL Cup with goals in each half from skipper Stephen Quinn and John Swift helping them to a 2-1 win at Championship rivals Brighton.

The Royals battled for more than half the tie with 10 men after defender Tyler Blackett received a straight red card for a late challenge on debutant Sebastien Pocognoli.

Brighton dominated for long spells in the second half but broke through only once when substitute Tomer Hemed scored from close five minutes...

Tomer Hemed's 88th-minute penalty was enough to secure a first away win of the season for Brighton at Burton's Pirelli Stadium, ending the Brewers five-game unbeaten run in the Championship.

It had looked like being a frustrating afternoon for Chris Hughton's men, who had dominated proceedings and threatened a goal for long spells of the second half.

But when the influential Anthony Knockaert threaded the ball through for Jiri Skalak, the Brighton man was sent tumbling by Jackson Irvine with Hemed...

Brighton forward Anthony Knockaert's late strike ended Huddersfield's unbeaten start to the Sky Bet Championship with a 1-0 win.

The Frenchman struck in the 80th minute of a terrific contest with a low shot which Huddersfield goalkeeper Danny Ward will feel he probably should have saved.

Ward was given some consoling words by opposite number David Stockdale at the end, as the Terriers saw their lead at the top of the table trimmed to a single point.

Huddersfield have been flying and knew they would...
