Bordeaux sold to U.S. hedge fund General American Capital Partners

Bordeaux are the subject of a takeover by American investment fund General American Capital Partners.
Bordeaux won the Ligue 1 title in 2009 under previous owners M9.

Bordeaux have been sold by media company M6 Metropole Television to Los Angeles-based hedge fund General American Capital Partners (GACP), the French firm said on Tuesday.

"M6 Group has today finalised the sale of the Football Club Girondins de Bordeaux to the U.S. investment fund General American Capital Partners (GACP) for €100 million," M6 said in a statement announcing their results for the first nine months of 2018.

M6 bought the French club in 1999 and hoped to bring back the glory days...

Bordeaux sale will go through despite delay - owner Nicolas De Tavernost

Bordeaux's owners "have no doubt" the sale of the club to an American investment fund will go ahead later this month.

General American Capital Partners (GACP) had been expected to complete their takeover at the end of September, but after a late intervention from Bordeaux mayor Alain Juppe, the decision was delayed.

Juppe called for prospective buyers to provide "clarification" of its plans for the club, and GACP head Joe DaGrosa is due to appear before Bordeaux Metropolitan Council...

Bordeaux sale to U.S. investment fund delayed by mayor

The sale of Bordeaux to an American investment fund has been postponed after the French city's mayor intervened.

General American Capital Partners (GACP) had been due to hear from Bordeaux Metropolitan Council on Friday whether their proposed takeover of the six-time Ligue 1 champions could go ahead.

The council had been expected to give the go ahead, but the vote has now been put back until Oct. 12 after Bordeaux mayor, Alain Juppe, removed it from the agenda.

"It's not an act of caution, but clarification,"...

Thierry Henry rejection by Bordeaux was 'financial decision' - new owner

Former MLS managers Steve Nicol and Paul Mariner call upon personal experiences to offer Thierry Henry some coaching advice.

Bordeaux's new owners have told L'Equipe that a "financial decision" led to them rejecting the opportunity to appoint Thierry Henry as their new coach.

Henry was widely expected to replace Gus Poyet at the French club last month with some reports even going as far as to claim the parties had reached an agreement.

Instead, GACP, the U.S. investment fund that is set to complete its buyout of Bordeaux's current owners, TV channel M6 by Sept. 28, appointed Ricardo at the head of the first...

Bordeaux appoint Ricardo as 'general manager' to replace Gus Poyet

ESPN FC's Steve Nicol explains why Bordeaux is the perfect place for Thierry Henry to take his first position as manager.

Bordeaux have handed Ricardo a second stint in charge as the Brazilian steps in to replace Gus Poyet at the French club.

Poyet was sacked as first-team coach last month following a public rant aimed at club officials who sold striker Gaetan Laborde without his consent, according to the former Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder.

After Thierry Henry reportedly dropped out of the running, Ricardo, who negotiated a release from his role as sporting director of Brazilian club Santos earlier this...
