Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston charged over texts

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has been charged by the Football Association for text messages in which he called a supporter "a retard."

Back in December it emerged that Oyston had sent a series of text messages to fan Stephen Smith, who he told to "enjoy the rest of your special needs day out."

Oyston later apologised for his part in the exchange, however the FA announced on Monday that the messages allegedly constituted five breaches of its rules and the Blackpool chief now has until 6 p.m. on...

Mirco Antenucci's second-half equaliser for Leeds left Blackpool on the brink of relegation to League One after a 1-1 draw at a disgruntled Bloomfield Road.

Gary Madine had given the struggling Seasiders the lead just before the break, but Italian forward Antenucci struck just after the hour to extend Leeds' unbeaten run to five games.

Blackpool, the Championship's bottom side, are now 17 points adrift of safety with just seven games to go.

Before kick-off there were more protests by Blackpool fans...

Charlton made it four Sky Bet Championship wins in their last five games with a 3-0 victory over bottom side Blackpool at a deserted Bloomfield Road.

Simon Church's second-half strike doubled the visitors' lead after Chris Eagles had put them in front in the first period against his old club and Johann Berg Gudmundsson's third added insult to injury.

Blackpool are now without a win in their last 10 games and have lost their last six - taking their tally of defeats in the league to 24.

The Seasiders...

Brett Pitman bagged a first-half hat-trick as Bournemouth coasted past Blackpool 4-0 to return to the top of the Championship.

The Cherries were in cruise control at the Goldsands as they secured their third straight victory which condemned the Tangerines to a fifth consecutive defeat.

Basement side Blackpool came in search of their first win in eight matches but any hopes were dashed after just 10 minutes.

Jersey-born striker Pitman was afforded time and space to run past a sea of Tangerine players...

Lewis McGugan's third goal in five games secured Sheffield Wednesday a 1-0 victory at the Sky Bet Championship's bottom side Blackpool.

The Watford loanee struck nine minutes after the break for the Owls who have now won three of their last four league games.

Conversely Blackpool, who are now 17 points off safety with just 10 games to go, are winless in eight and rarely troubled to end that run at Bloomfield Road.

McGugan had the first shot in anger in the fifth minute but he blazed over the bar from...
