Blackpool friendly abandoned after protests

Blackpool boss Neil McDonald talks to assistant Richie Kyle during the game against Lancaster.

Blackpool's preseason friendly at Lancaster was abandoned after a number of fans invaded the pitch.

In scenes reminiscent of Pool's final game of last season, social media pictures showed supporters entering the field at Lancaster's Giant Axe.

Blackpool's game with Huddersfield on May 2 was unable to be completed after protests against chairman Karl Oyston spilled over onto the Bloomfield Road pitch.

A tumultuous summer on the back of relegation to League One has done little to quell the anger...

Blackpool Supporters' Trust in £16m bid to buy club from Oyston family

New manager Neil McDonald will have to placate angry Blackpool fans after their relegation to League One.

Blackpool Supporters' Trust (BST) has tabled a £16 million bid to buy the club from owners Owen Oyston and his family.

BST has sent an open "letter of intent" to Oyston, who bought the club for £1 in 1987, urging him to sell "and thereby prevent any further damage being done to Blackpool FC, its reputation and its future prospects."

Blackpool were in the Premier League five years ago but have since been relegated to the third tier.

Fans have protested loudly at the way the club has...

Blackpool's Karl Oyston admits breaching FA rules for abusive texts

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has admitted to five breaches of Football Association rules for a text-message exchange in which he called a Seasiders supporter an insulting name.

The FA first opened a probe into Oyston's conversations with fan Stephen Smith back in December and followed that up by bringing a charge against him in March.

However, Oyston denied that charge one month later and challenged it as "unlawful," a claim which the governing body last week announced was dismissed by an arbitral...

Blackpool appoint Neil McDonald as new manager

Neil McDonald will have to placate the angry Blackpool fans after their relegation to League One.

Blackpool have hired former West Ham assistant Neil McDonald as their new manager.

The Seasiders, who will start next season in League One following their relegation out of the Championship, have handed Sam Allardyce's former number two McDonald a rolling one-year deal.

The 49-year-old has also been on the staff at Preston, Bolton, Crystal Palace and Leeds and succeeds Lee Clark in the post after he walked away from Bloomfield Road following a chaotic campaign both on and off the pitch.

Blackpool hit by FA charge after Huddersfield game abandoned

Blackpool fans staged a protest during the game against Huddersfield.

Blackpool have been charged by the Football Association after their Championship clash with Huddersfield on May 2 was abandoned after a pitch invasion.

The game on the final day of the season was called off in the 48th minute after Blackpool fans staged a protest against owner Karl Oyston in the centre circle.

Referee Mick Russell was forced to take the players off the pitch with the score at 0-0 and, after the game was held up for more than an hour, the decision was taken to call it off.

The Seasiders...
