ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti discusses AC Milan's impressive start and VAR's debut in the first week of Serie A action.

Academy product Patrick Cutrone was the standout performer in an AC Milan team chock-full of expensive summer signings as his goal and assist helped the ambitious Rossoneri thrash 10-man Crotone 3-0 in Serie A on Sunday night.

Benevento's players celebrate promotion to Serie A.
Benevento will play in Serie A for the first time ever next season.

Benevento joined SPAL in ensuring there will be two new clubs in Serie A next season after they beat Carpi in a playoff on Thursday night.

SPAL, who are based in the city of Ferrara and were only re-formed in 2013, earned direct promotion to Serie A just a year after being promoted to Serie B.

Benevento followed their example by also celebrating back-to-back promotions after a goal by on-loan Inter Milan forward George Puscas earned them a 1-0 win at home to Carpi, completing a 1-0 aggregate victory...

Benevento won promotion to Serie A for the first time in their history on Monday after beating Carpi 1-0 in the second leg of their playoff final.

After a goalless first leg in Carpi, a goal from George Puscas, who is on loan from Inter Milan, in the 33rd minute of Thursday's return meeting settled the contest in Benevento's favour as he redirected a cross.

Benevento could have won even with another draw, since it finished ahead of Carpi in the standings.
