Bayern Munich: Thiago knee surgery a success

Bayern Munich's 7-1 thrashing of Roma in the UEFA Champions League was an accident according to head coach, Pep Guardiola.

Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago had successful knee surgery in Spain, the Bundesliga champions confirmed on Thursday.

The 23-year-old has been out of action for seven months after tearing ligaments in his right knee and he suffered a setback in training last week, with the latest round of surgery set to sideline him for another half a year.

The Spain international preferred to be treated in his home country and he went under the knife on Thursday.
