Wout Weghorst recovered from a double penalty miss to shoot AZ Alkmaar joint top of the Dutch Eredivisie with a 2-0 win at Sparta Rotterdam.
Weghorst saw two spot-kicks saved by Sparta goalkeeper Roy Kortsmit in the 21st minute - a first attempt ordered to be retaken when the home number one was deemed to have stepped off his line.
But Weghorst opened the scoring 10 minutes later when he swept home from a Marko Vejnovic corner, and doubled his side's lead when he fired low past Kortsmit on the hour.
Borussia Dortmund are set to sign defensive midfielder Immanuel Pherai from AZ Alkmaar, the club has confirmed to ESPN FC.
