Roma in precarious position

Kessie to test Roma

Transfer Rater: James to join Liverpool

Francesco Totti could create more derby memories yet if Roma let him

Lionel Messi received a Photoshop treatment, Francesco Totti receives a gift from Nike and more in The Sweeper.
The ageless Totti has AS Roma threatening the top of the table, and playing an exciting brand of soccer.
It remains to be seen if this will be Francesco Totti's last Rome derby, and if he will play even if it is.

Seated on a throne and styled as the eighth king of Rome, Francesco Totti presented his new limited edition signature football boot in Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina on Wednesday. Hundreds of fans held back by crash barriers packed into the square for the event. Released to commemorate the 25th year of his career, only 2,500 pairs have been made and each carries its production number as if it were a bottle of Pappy van Winkle. Totti has understandably kept a pair for himself, and there are no prizes...

Kevin Strootman bosses Roma midfield to send Pescara down

Roma tightened their hold on second place in Serie A with a comprehensive win over Pescara, who rarely threatened.
Roma tightened their hold on second place in Serie A with a comprehensive win over Pescara, who rarely threatened.

Roma took advantage of Napoli's draw at Sassuolo by swatting a perplexingly welcoming Pescara and strengthening their grip on second place and automatic Champions League qualification, moving four points ahead of the Partenopei and sending Zdenek Zeman's team down to Serie B in the process.

Two goals a minute before the break, a tap-in from man-of-the-match Kevin Strootman and a cool Radja Nainggolan finish, ended the match as a contest after a first half that almost saw Roma rue a host of missed...

Roma in precarious position in fight for crucial Champions League spot

Unai Emery discusses rumours he is bound for Roma.

Qualifying for the Champions League significantly increases your revenue, by almost four times," said Mauro Baldissoni during Roma's extraordinary shareholder's meeting earlier this month. The club's general manager was trying to explain to shareholders losses of nearly €50 million between June and December last year, which reduced the club's capital by a third and forced them to hold the meeting.

"We didn't sell players (in January, despite losses) because we knew we had...

Shaka Hislop's Power Rankings: AS Roma fall to ninth

Edin Dzeko has AS Roma firmly in control of second place in Serie A.

The Giallorossi are no longer competing in Europe but did pick up another draw, 1-1 at Pescara, last week to remain in control of second place in Serie A with six league games remaining.

Fazio solid but Roma lack intensity in Atalanta draw as title hopes wither

Federico Fazio was solid in defence and started attacks from the back for Roma.

Roma's last remaining hopes of the Serie A title wafted away with a frustrating 1-1 draw with Atalanta that allowed Juventus to extend their lead at the top to eight points and effectively seal their sixth straight Scudetto. Edin Dzeko's tap-in levelled the scores almost straight after half-time after Jasmin Kurtic's superb drilled opener -- Atalanta's only shot on target -- saw Gian Piero Gasperini's supremely well-organised side lead at the break.

For 20 minutes, Roma laid siege to the away...

Roma vs. Atalanta gives hosts a close look at likely new signing Franck Kessie

With seven matches left in the current Serie A season, Roma are already in a state of postseason flux. Coach Luciano Spalletti is almost certainly on his way this summer, while the continuing will-they-won't-they contract sagas involving Daniele De Rossi and above Francesco Totti mean the next two months could be the last for Serie A's last remaining bandiere.

With automatic Champions League qualification still in the balance and the faintest of title hopes wafting in the air, talk in Rome ahead...
