Macclesfield extended their lead at the top of the National League to four points with a 2-1 victory at 10-man Aldershot.

The Shots' hopes of leapfrogging Town to the summit were damaged in the fifth minute when last man Will Evans was sent off for bringing down Nathan Blissett.

Danny Whitaker scored from the resulting penalty and Blissett added a second in the 48th minute, scrambling home after Elliott Durrell had gone round the goalkeeper.

Aldershot grabbed a lifeline in the 62nd minute, Scott Rendell...

Aldershot climbed to second in the Vanarama National League standings after a 2-0 win at Dagenham.

The Shots took the lead in the fourth minute thanks to Jim Kellermann, who lashed in a shot from the edge of the box after Scott Rendell won a header down from a Will Evans long pass.

Kellermann then set up Rendell in the second half for the visitors' second, squaring the ball and allowing the striker to tap into an open goal in the 49th minute.

The win saw Aldershot climb above Wrexham, who drew 1-1 with...

Aldershot missed the chance to move within a point of National League leaders Macclesfield as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Ebbsfleet.

Both goalkeepers had saves to make in the first half but there was little to be excited about after the break.

Aldershot went close when Nicke Kabamba fed Manny Oyeleke, who was denied by goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore's trailing leg.

Lewis Ward came to the Shots' rescue at the other end, repelling Dave Winfield's close-range strike.

The two sides cancelled each other out...

League One leaders Shrewsbury eased through to the second round of the FA Cup with a 5-0 win against Aldershot.

Goals from Alex Rodman, Shaun Whalley, Stefan Payne, Arthur Gnahoua and Carlton Morris wrapped up a comfortable victory for Paul Hurst's side.

Shrewsbury had already gone close by the time they took the lead. Payne's header was well saved by Mark Smith, diving low to his right and then Smith did well to take the ball off Payne as the striker tried to round him.

But goalkeeper Smith was eventually...

Two Cole Stockton goals put Tranmere in total control of their Vanarama National League semi-final play-off after a comfortable 3-0 first-leg win at Aldershot.

It did not take long for Rovers to break the deadline when Jeff Hughes dispossessed James Kellermann deep in the Aldershot half before his low cross found Stockton to fire past Jake Cole in the third minute.

The visitors almost doubled their advantage through Connor Jennings but his effort was superbly blocked by a last-ditch tackle from Callum...
